YqO337 WHEREAS, President George Bush will be the host of the 1990 Economic Summit; and, WHEREAS, President Bush has indicated that he was considering holding the Summit in Texas; and, WHEREAS, the City of San Antonio has been mentioned as one of the sites receiving consideration; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of San Antonio have extended an invitation to President Bush to host the 1990 Economic Summit in San Anto- nio and offered the full backing and support of the city government to the F!'resident; and, WHEREAS, it will be very advantageous to the economic development of the Greater Austin -San Antonio Corridor Council to have the Economic summit held in the Corridor; and WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown, Texas, is a member government of the Greater Austin -San Antonio Corridor Council, and supports the efforts of this Council; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of George- town, Texas, as a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Austin - San Antonio Corridor Council endorses the selection of San Antonio as a site for the 1990 Economic Summit and points out the many historic and cul- tural resources available in San Antonio and the Greater Austin -San Antonio Corridor; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, as a member government of the Corridor Council offers it full sup- port in providing a warm and cordial welcome to the distinguished interna- tional visitors and members of the media and general public who would be in :tur region for the Summit. If this summit is brought to the San Antonio area, there will be international leaders from all over the world, as well as extensive press coverage and public par- pation in this area.
