HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 880049.4 - IH35 ExpansionSTATE OF TEXAS KNOW A,L MEN BY THESE PRESENTS: RESOLUTION NO.380049,4 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, having been advised and become aware that the Owners of three certain tracts of land, lo- cated and bordering the eastern Right of Way (R.O.W.) and frontage road of Inter- regional Highway Thirty -Five (I.H.-35) and also bordering the southern banks of the North San Gabriel River, and the western and northern bank of the South San Gabriel River, in and near the City of Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas, in- tend and desire to construct a road in compliance with road standards set forth and required by governmental bodies having jurisdiction 'thereof, extending and connecting S.H. 29 on the south with an eastern Frontage Road of I.H.-35 across and bridging the North San Gabriel River to F.M. 2238, also known as Williams Drive and Andice Road, and that all cost of construction of said road and bridge would be borne by said Owners and shared by the Texas Highway Department, and WHEREAS, it is the opinion and conclusion of the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, that such road, bridge and frontage road extension would serve and provide benefits to the general public by providing additional safe public access to other public roads, streets and thoroughfares, and particularly to and from the said F.M. 2238, (Williams Drive or Andice Road) and S.H. 29 to and from the I.H.-35 Frontage Road and I.H.-35. Such access would significantly benefit and enhance future traffic movement and circulation, future development of public streets and roads in and around the City of Georgetown and offer safe circulation and movement of vehicular traffic and particularly safer and less congested routes, circulation and movement of area school buses between F.M. 2238 (Williams Drive or Andice Road) and S.H. 29, and between schools in the north and northwestern quadrant of the City to those schools in the south and southeastern quadrant of the City. Such road would further alleviate congestion of vehicular traffic at the multiple intersections of F.M. 2238 (Williams Drive or Andice Road) and I.H.-35 and U.S. 81, thus affording and providing greater safety to the gene- ral public. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,< the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas does hereby recommend, support and endorse the construction of said road, exten- sion of Frontage Road, and bridge, and respectfully recommends that the Texas High- way Department approve such road, extension and bridge and pursue prompt and im- mediate action to facilitate the construction thereof in full cooperation with the present and future Owners of the aforesaid three tracts.
