Reata Lift Station Interim Improvements
Project into. 00175
Dear Mr. Briggs:
We are pleased to present this scope, schedule and budget for the Reata
Lift Station Interim Improvements. We have reviewed the scope of the
project and are very interested in providing professional engineering
services in connection with this project.
It is our understanding that the City of Georgetown would like to ;replace
the existing Reata Lift Station and force main because the station is
currently overloaded and, with committed taps, would be in danger of
frequent spills. The City would like the lift station replaced with a
self -priming unit to avoid human contact with the wet well environment.
CDM will perform the following services
I. Preliminary Engineering Phase
In this stage of project development, we will determine the
capacity of the receiving interceptor, the existing load on the
receiving interceptor, the existing load on the Reata Lift Station,
the load from lots constructed but not occupied, and the load from
lots approved but not constructed. From this data, we will report
to you what level of service is possible using the existing
interceptor system. This information will be presented in a report
(10 copies furnished).
The report will be delivered to the City within four weeks of our
notice to proceed. The lump sum cost for the preliminary engineer—
ing phase i $8,000. This includes surveying the receiving
interceptor for capacity determination, plus surveying the "force
main and lift station site for final design.
II. Design Phase
Following approval of the Preliminary Engineering Report by the
City, we will commence with design. This phase will include the
preparation of detailed plans and specifications for bidding and

constructing the project as specified in the Preliminary
Engineering Phase. A final engineer's opinion of probable
construction cost will be delivered to the City. Also included in
this phase is geotechnical drilling and testing.
The design phase will take six weeks to complete from receipt of
the approved Preliminary Engineering Report. The limp sum cost for
'this ;phase is $9,800.
III. Bidding and General Services Phase
Following approval of the plans and specifications for bidding, we
will make plans and specifications available to contractors fora
non-refundable fee that will be used to offset our printing costs.
The City will be responsible for placing the advertisement in the
local paper, and CDM will be responsible for distributing the plans
and specifications. We will attend a pre-bid conference, the bid
opening and a pre -construction conference. We will also handle
returning bid bonds and preparing a bid cost tabulation.
In the general services phase, we will review the site monthly,
plus make a`final inspection. We will also review submittals,
review contractor's request for information and assist the City
with technical issues as requested.
The bidding will last four weeks: and the general services will run
concurrently with the construction contract. The lump sum cost for
this phase is $2,500.
We are ready to start the Preliminary Engineering Phase as soon as we
receive your written authorization to proceed. We understand that the
terms and conditions of our recent Contract between the City of Georgetown
and Camp Dresser & McKee Inc. for engineering services govern this project.
Compensation for basic engineering services described in Phases I, II and
III will be based on Fixed Lump Sum payments stated for each phase'. This
is in compliance with Exhibit A, Section =C of the Contract.
If you have any questions or comments, please call.
Sincerely;

SUBJECT: Engineering Services for Reata Lift Station
Pending the approval of the basic service agreement with Camp
Dresser and McKee, Inc. the city staff recommends the services
of this firm for the engineering of the Reata Lift Station Project.
The Reata Lift Station Project has been covered on several
occasions with the Utility Sub -Committee and was approved for
construction under the Capital Improvement Program. The services
outlined by Camp Dresser and McKee, Inc. for this work include a
preliminary design phase, which will provide the City of
Georgetown with calculated flows in the existing service area.
This study will enable the City of Georgetown to provide information
to the land use plan for the Reata area. The second phase of
services include design of the lift station and force main
connecting these improvements into the existing gravity system.
The final phase of services would include bidding and construction
representation as needed.
The total cost of these services would be $20,300.00 paid on a lump
sum cost. City staff feels that the study would not only be useful
for public utilities, but also for the Planning Division in
organizing exact capacity figures for the Reata drainage basin.
Therefore, city staff recommends approval of the engineering
agreement between the City of Georgetown and Camp Dresser and McKee,
Inc. for services related to the Reata Lift Station improvements.
Funding source for this project will be Utility Capital Projects.
