A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING PROCEDURES FOR A GENERAL
ELECTION IN GEORGETOWN, TEXAS
WHEREAS, the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter of the
City of Georgetown, Texas, provide that on May 7, 1988 there shall be
elected the following officials for this City:
Mayor
Two Members of Council
WHEREAS, the laws of the State of Texas and the Charter of the
City of Georgetown, Texas , further provide that the Election Code of
the State of Texas is applicable to said election, and in order to
comply with said Code, a resolution should be passed establishing the
procedure to be followed in said election, and designating the voting
place8 for said election.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all candidates for the election to be held on the
first Saturday in May, 1988 for the above mentioned positions shall
file their application to become candidates with the City Secretary of
the City at City Hall, 609 Main Street, Georgetown, Texas on or before
5:00 p.m. on the forty-fifth day before the election, such date being
March 23, 1988, and that all of said applications shall be on a form as
prescribed by Section 141.031 of the Election Code of the State of
Texas,
The order in which the names of the candidates are to be printed
on the ballot shall be determined by a drawing by the City Secretary as
provided by Section 52.094 of the Election Code.
Section 2. This City has two polling places where voting shall take
place, which are as follows:
1. Election Precinct No. "l", Fire Station No, 1, 806 1/2 Main
Street, Georgetown, Texas.
2. Election Precinct No. "2", Fire. Station No. 2, 204 Central
Avenue, Georgetown, Texas,
Section 3. The City Secretary is hereby authorized and instructed to
provide and furnish all necessary election supplies to conduct said
election. Voting shall be conducted with optical scan voting machines
prepared in conformity with the 1987 Revised Texas Election Code.
Section 4. The following named persons are hereby appointed officers
for said election:

In Election Precinct No. "l" will serve as
Presiding Judge, and noro Hccai-a wAl p. es as Alternate
Presiding Judge, and the clerk�d-'for the election will be appointed in a
number not to exceed five (5) clerks.
In Election Precinct No. "2", 0 GI i f 4 7 (--, F(K -7-- will serve as

Judge, and the clerksfor the election will be appointed in a number
not to exceed five ( 5 ) clerks.
Section 5. Sue Marshall is hereby appointed Clerk for Absentee Voting.
The absentee voting for the above designated election shall be at 716
Rock Street, Georgetown, Texas, and said place of absentee voting shall
remain open for at least eight hours on each day for absentee voting
which is not a Saturday, a Sunday, or an official State Holiday,
beginning on the 19th day (the 20th day being a Sunday), and continuing
through the 4th day preceding the date of said election. Said place of
voting shall remain open between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 pm.
on each day for said absentee voting. Absentee voting shall also be
conducted on Saturday, April 30, 1988 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and
Sunday, May 1, 1988 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Absentee voting by personal appearance shall be on optical scan voting
machines and absentee voting by mail shall be by paper ballots.
All absentee voting shall be canvassed by an Absentee Ballot Board.
Neil Boydston shall serve as Presiding Judge, W. P. Hoffman as
Alternate Presiding Judge and Sue Marshall serve as clerk, and they are
hereby appointed the Absentee Ballot Board for said election,
Ballot applications by mail may be obtained from, as well as mailing
voted ballots:

Section 6. Dorothy Jones and Elaine Bizzell are hereby appointed
Presiding and Alternate Judges for the Counting Station.
Section 7. Election officials shall be compensated at a rate of $5.00
Rn hour and officials who deliver the ballots and election supplies
shall be compensated an additional flat fee of $25.00 over the hourly
rate for their services.
Section 8. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute an
agreement with the County of Williamson for the administration of
certain election duties.

Section 9. Said election shall be held in accordance with the Election
Code of this State, and only resident qualified voters of said City
shall be eligible to vote at said election.
Section 10. The Mayor shall give notice of this election in accordance
with the terms and provisions of Sections 4,004, 83010, 85.004, and
85.007 of the Election Code, and all necessary orders and writs for
said election shall be issued by the proper authority. Returns of said
election shall be made to the City Council immediately after th6
closing of the polls.
Section 11. It is further found and determined that in accordance with
the order of this governing body, the City Secretary posted written
notice of the date, place and subject of this meeting on the bulletin
board located in the city Hall, a place convenient and readily
accessible to the general public, and said notice having been so posted
and remaining posted and continuously for at least 72 hours preceding
the scheduled time of said meeting. A copy of the return of said
posting shall be attached to the minutes of this meeting and shall be
made a part thereof for all intents and purposes.

I . being the current City Secretary of the City of
Georgetown do hereby certify the above is a true and correct copy of a
resolution of the City Council of the City of Georgetown and such
resolution was duly adopted at a meeting open to the public and notice
of said meeting, giving the date, placei and subject thereof, was
posted as prescribed by Article 6252-17, Section 3A, VATCS.
