Collectible Christmas Ornament A limited-edition collectible brass Christmas ornament featuring the Cullen Building at Southwestern University is now on sale.The cost of the ornament is $20 plus tax.The ninth annual ornament sale is a project of the Georgetown Main Street Program.Ornaments can be purchased at the Visitors Center,103 W. Seventh Street.All proceeds fund Main Street projects and the Façade Fund Grant Program. Georgetown Blue Santa is collecting toys for kids at the Christmas Stroll Parade at 10 a.m.on Saturday,December 5.New,unwrapped toys will be collected by Blue Santa Elves along the parade route.Blue Santa is a program of the Georgetown Police Department to provide toys to children in need in Georgetown. New,unwrapped toys also can be brought to donation barrels at many Georgetown locations. Donate $15 or more to Georgetown Blue Santa and you’ll receive a collectable Blue Santa Elf lapel pin. For application information,dona- tion events,and barrel locations,go to BlueSanta.Georgetown.org. 2008 authorizing funds for the project.The total cost of the project is $34.7 million, including $13 million from the City of Georgetown, $11.4 million in federal funding, $7.8 million in state funding, and $2.6 million from the City of Round Rock and Williamson County. Construction on the FM 1460 project gets underway in November. The two-year project by the Texas Department of Transportation involves building a four-lane road in the 3.5 mile segment from Quail Valley Drive to University Boulevard. FM 1460 is a key north-south arterial between Georgetown and Round Rock.Currently FM 1460 is a two- lane road with no shoulders. The new four-lane road with turn lanes will provide increased safety and mobility between the hospitals and higher education facilities in Round Rock and residential and employment areas in Georgetown. Christmas Stroll, December 4 –5 Come to the 35th annual down- town Christmas Stroll with art and craft vendors,Bethlehem Village,Santa’s North Pole and Toy Shop,and Whoo-village with free activities for children.The Stroll parade starts at 10 a.m.on Saturday.Photos with Santa 11 a.m.to 3 p.m.and 4 to 7 p.m. Festival hours are 5 to 9 p.m.on Friday and 9 a.m.to 8 p.m.on Saturday.Details at www.TheGeorgetownSquare.com. Morrow Street.Georgetown fire- fighters will be making pancakes and sausage served with juice and coffee.Kids can have a picture taken with Santa and get up close to a fire truck.Tickets are $6 at the door or in advance at Fire Support Services Office at the Public Safety Operations and Training Center, 3500 DB Wood Road.Sponsored by the Sun City Rotary,Extended School Enrichment Program,and the Georgetown Fire Department. Proceeds benefit needy families in Georgetown. Jingle Bell Ride, December 12 The Jingle Bell (Bicycle)Ride starts at 6 p.m.at Blue Hole Park. This four-mile family ride on the hike and bike trail in San Gabriel Park will raise funds to support local and international projects.
