Art for Animals features art,choco- late desserts,and wine or coffee from 4 to 7 p.m.at the Community Center,445 E.Morrow Street in San Gabriel Park.Admission includes a variety of chocolate desserts and gourmet coffee.Wine tickets will be available for sale at the door. The art auction includes ceramics, jewelry,photographs,paintings, quilts,stained glass,and more.Go to ArtForAnimals.georgetown.org to see pieces available in the auction. Other auction items include gift bas- kets,travel packages,and unique items or services.Donations of art or items for baskets are being sought and will be accepted through Jan.23 “The proceeds from Art for Animals have a huge positive impact on the animals at the shelter,”said Christy Hullum,president of the Friends group.“We were recently able to upgrade our adoption trailer to better showcase the dogs and increase their chances of finding forever families.The Friends are able to provide equipment and services to the shelter to improve the lives of the animals while they are there, and to help animals throughout the community.” The Kids Fun Run for children age 8 or younger starts at 7:30 a.m.The course is a loop around the Courthouse.Registration is $10 on or before February 4 and $15 on race day.T-shirts are not guaranteed if you register on race day. Participants receive a Cupid’s Chase Love ‘Em or Leave ‘Em T-shirt, while supplies last.Dogs on a leash are always welcome on the Cupid’s Chase course. Register now for the 20th annual Cupid’s Chase 5k and Fun Run on Saturday,February 7.The chip- timed 5k run/walk begins at 8 a.m. in downtown Georgetown at Seventh and Main streets and ends at the Bark Park on Holly Street. (A shuttle will take you back to the starting line.) For the 5k,registration received on or before January 12 is $18 for those 13 or older and $16 for seniors (55+)and children 12 and under.January 13 through February 4,the regis- tration cost is $22 for all age groups.Registration at packet pickup and race day is $25 per person for all age groups. Art for Animals Saturday,February 7 All dogs and cats living in Georgetown are required to be licensed each year through Animal Services.An animal that is picked up,but has a license tag,can easily be identified and returned home.Think of the license as a free ride home for your cat or dog. The annual cost for each spayed or neutered pet is $5.The license fee for an unaltered cat or dog is $20 per year.There is no fee for seniors 65 or older with a cat or dog that is spayed or neutered.Proof of current rabies vaccina- tion is included in the licensing requirement. The license can be purchased at your veterinarian or at the Georgetown Animal Shelter,110 W.L.Walden Street—near the McMaster Athletic Fields on N.College Street.The annual license form can be downloaded from the shelter website and mailed in with the payment.See pets.georgetown.org for the form and more details about pet licenses.
