The facility is the new home for the Police Department, the City’s emer- gency operations center, emergency Sip, Savor, Shop… and swirl around the Square at the sixth annual Georgetown Swirl from 6 to 9 p.m. Enjoy an evening of shopping in downtown Georgetown while sam- pling Texas wines and dining on cui- sine from local restaurants. Live jazz music will help set the festive mood. Swirl goers also will find one-of-a- kind gifts and samples of rich desserts and coffees at participating retailers. Only 550 tickets are sold and typically sell out in advance. The cost is $45 per person. Go to Swirl.Georgetown.org for details and tickets. (Event tickets sold online only.) All proceeds benefit the Main Street Program Facade and Sign Grant Program. The Citizen Police Academy is a 10-week course taught by police officers. The Academy provides an inside view of the Georgetown Police Department. The curricu- lum includes laws and code of criminal procedure, criminal and accident investigations, weapons, crime scene investigations, victim services, hostage negotiations, gangs, officer safety, and the court system. Classes are Thursdays from March 26 through May 28. Sessions are 6 to 8 p.m. in the training room at the new Public Safety Operations and Training Center at 3500 DB Wood Road. Eighth Street at these times: Tues. and Thurs., 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, 12 to 4 p.m. Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will help prepare e-file or mail-in returns, prior year returns, amended returns, or extensions and help you find answers to tax ques- tions. Bring a copy of your return from last year if possible since, for e- filers, the AGI number (bottom line on front of 1040/A/EZ) is your verification PIN for this year. This volunteer service is provided with- out regard to income level. Appointments are on a first-come, first-served basis. Frozen party:Join us on Monday, March 16 at 1 p.m. for a Frozen party. Enjoy frozen crafts, treats and watch the sing-a-long version of the movie. Children are invited to come in costume,Let it Go, and sing with the movie.
