WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas desires

to establish a policy to assure a fair and equitable
administration of parade permit requirements to be met by all
applicants;
That the parade permit policy and procedure stated below be
followed by the City Council and the city staff:
SCOPE:
All individuals or groups who propose to conduct an activity
ifteeting the definition of a parade or event as described in the
Georgetown Code Section 17-6 ff.
PARADE PERMIT APPLICATION PROCEDURE;
1. Any individual, or group, proposing an activity which requires
a parade permit shall obtain, on forms prescribed by the city, an
application for parade permit. Upon completion, the application
shall be filed with the designated city office.
2. The application shall be reviewed by the city to determine
compliance with Section 17-6.3 of the City of Georgetown Code of
Ordinances including the amount of general liability insurance (a
minimum amount of $100,000.00 and a maximum of $1,000,000.00) to
be obtained naming the City as an insured party.
3. Upon the delivery of a certificate of insurance of the
prescribed amount and compliance with any and all other
restrictions, requirements, cost and deposits, the City may issue
a parade permit in conformance with Georgetown Code Section 17-6.3
4. If an application for parade permit is disapproved by the city
the applicant shall be notified in writing.
5. If the applicant is of the opinion that the application has
been unfairly rejected or the amount of insurance, restrictions
and/or other costs to be imposed are excessive, the applicant may
appeal for a public hearing before the city council.
6. City Council policy will be to hold a public hearing
concerning the issuance of a parade permit only after Sections I
and 2 above have been completed.
7. A copy of this procedure shall be provided to all persons
seeking an application for a parade permit.

PASSED AND APPROVED this 10th day of February 1987, by the City
Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas convened in person with a
lawful quorum present.
