HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_CVSVS_04.18.2015Minutes of Meeting for the Civil Service Commission City of Georgetown April 8, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. The Civil Service Commission met on April 8, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at Georgetown City Hall, 113 E. 8"' St. Georgetown TX. 786216 In attendance: Glenn Mautner, Place 1 Jim Montgomery, Place 2 Hank Michel, Place 3 A. Approval of minutes from November 24, 2014 meeting. Motion to approve Montgomery, 2"d Michel - Approved B. Discussion on Commissioner term limits. Director discussed status of Commissioner term limits. Mautner 1 s` term expires 12/2015, Michel ls` term expires 12/16, Montgomery 3`d term appear to have expired on 12/14. Director notified Montgomery that he can stay on until a successor has been named and that no oath of office is on file for him with the City Secretary. Notified to make arrangements to complete an oath with the CS. Montgomery stated those dates sound correct but cannot recall. Director informs Montgomery he can be appointed to a 4"' term with 2/3 vote of City Council. Montgomery is interested in reappointment. Elliott will send him application material to file with the City Secretary Office. C. Election of Chair Motion for Michel to be elected to chair by Mautner, 2"d by Montgomery - Approved D. Election of Vice Chair Motion for Mautner to be elected Vice Chair by Montgomery, 2"d by Michel — Approved E. Discussion and possible certification of Police Officer eligibility list. Director notified that 40 people passed out of a candidate pool of 130, 11 meet TCOLE preference. Elliott discussed tiebreakers and requested approval. Motion by Michel, 2"d by Montgomery — Approved F. Civil Service Director will provide an update to the Commission on Civil Service related items. Director discussed City's EMS responsibilities effective October 1, 2015. Total hiring numbers for Public Safety were discussed — 16 Fire, 9 Pol'c. Michel asked how many total medics and ambulances we currently had or needed. Daniel stated there are 4TRVs and need a staff of at least 18 medics. Mautner discussed possible preference for Military Medics stated all medics had to be recognized by DSHS so they would not be eligible to practice as a medic. Michel inquired if a medical facility would be built near Sun City.8 stated there are plans for a stand alone emergency facility for the West side of town. �'` "`Pyi G.
