Call to Order Youth Program Coordinator Ryan Huffman called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. B. Roll Call Board Members in Attendance: Thomas Janes, Chair; Hannah Pierce, Vice Chair; Jacqueline Massey, Secretary; Brandi Lugo, Alyssa Hyle, Cooper Cash, Kris Kresser Board Members Absent: Taylor Rennie, Dawson Speer C. Welcome and Introductions of Members, Liaisons Guests Parks and Recreation Director Kimberly Garrett introduced this item. Each Board Member present introduced themselves and their background, amount of time previously served on the Board, and reasons for interest in serving on the Board. Director Kimberly Garrett introduced herself and history of the Youth Advisory Board. Assistant City Secretary Shelley Nowling and Records Coordinator Robyn Densmore introduced themselves and their roles with the City of Georgetown’s Boards and Commissions. Youth Program Coordinator and Youth Advisory Board Liaison Ryan Huffman also introduced himself and how he will serve alongside the Youth Advisory Board moving forward. D. Overview of the Youth Advisory Board; Roster and Terms, Attendance Policy, Meeting Procedures, Bylaws, and Purpose Statement Board Liaison Ryan Huffman described to the Board Members the length of their terms, the Attendance Policy put in place by City Council for all Boards and Commissions, what the Youth Advisory Board’s purpose and mission statement was, and how to properly conduct a Board meeting. E. Boards & Commissions Ethics Training Assistant City Secretary Shelley Nowling presented to the Board Members what was expected of them from an ethical standpoint. Her presentation included all State required ethics training material. F. Swearing in the Members of the Youth Advisory Board Assistant City Secretary Shelley Nowling swore each of the Board Members in to the Youth Advisory Board. G. Review and Discussion of the City of Georgetown’s proposed Transit Development Plan Board Liaison Ryan Huffman presented this item to the Board. He discussed the Youth Aged Survey on Fixed Bus Routes in Georgetown and the results from the 11 surveys returned. He also discussed the proposed hours of operation and the Board discussed their thoughts on each of the survey questions and the hours. The Board members did feel that the Transit Development plan had value for their age demographic, and they all said that they thought they and their peers would use the fixed bus routes. Several members mentioned that they felt the fixed bus route needed to make stops at Georgetown and Eastview High Schools. Several also believed that the hours of operation ending at 6:30 was not late enough to meet the needs of the youth. H. Consideration and Possible Action to Elect the Chair of the Youth Advisory Board Board Liaison Ryan Huffman asked for any nomination from the floor for Board Chair. Board Member Kresser made a motion to nominate Thomas Janes. Board Member Cash seconded the motion. The motion carried on a vote of 7-0 with Board Members Speer and Rennie absent. I. Consideration and Possible Action to Elect the Vice Chair of the Youth Advisory Board Board Liaison Ryan Huffman asked for any nomination from the floor for Board Vice Chair. Board Member Kresser made a motion to nominate Hannah Pierce. Board Member Hyle seconded the motion. The motion carried on a vote of 7-0 with Board Members Speer and Rennie absent. J. Consideration and Possible Action to Elect the Secretary of the Youth Advisory Board Board Liaison Ryan Huffman asked for any nomination from the floor for Board Secretary. Board Member Hyle made a motion to nominate Jacqueline Massey. Board Member Pierce seconded the motion. The motion carried on a vote of 7-0 with Board Members Speer and Rennie absent. K. Consideration and Possible Action to Set Date and Time for the 2015 Youth Advisory Board Meetings Board Liaison Ryan Huffman asked for any suggestions from the floor for future meeting times and days. Board Member Janes suggested changing all future meeting times and days to the first Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the Teen 2 room of the Georgetown Recreation Center. The Board voted unanimously 7-0 to change the future meeting time to be the first Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. Adjournment Board Liaison Ryan Huffman made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:38 p.m. ______________________________________ Thomas Janes, Board Chair ______________________________________ Jacqueline Massey, Secretary ______________________________________ Ryan Huffman, Board Liaison
