C.Discussion pfapplication process for appointment tm/SyAB
Ryan Huffman, Youth Program Coordinator, discussed the reappointment process for all current GYAB
members. The reappointment process this year will be different than it has been in the past, and slightly
different than how it will be in the future. Current members wishing to remain members must reapply
starting on November 1. The application process runs from November I through January 8. City Council
and the Mayor will then review applications and make determinations in January and February on who
will be members of the 2016 GYAB. Newly appointed members will be notified in February of their
appointment and will then begin their membership starting at the first March meeting, Newly appointed
members will be randomly assigned terms of one or two years. Starting in 2017, all members will be
appointed to two year terms as is standard with all other city boards and commissions,
D.Discussion about the Georgetown Parks and Recreation's Halloween Carnival
Ryan Huffman, Youth Program Coordinator, introduced Georgetown Parks and Recreation's Halloween
Carnival on October 29 and asked for members who were available to please sign upand help out, GYA8
members will be running several game booths at the Carnival from 5:30 — 8:30 p.m.

Thomas Janes, Board Chair, introduced the night's guest speaker, Leslie Janca. Thomas briefly gave
highlights of Leslie's career including prior work and completed and in progress projects that The
Georgetown Project isworking on,
Leslie Janca, Executive Director of The Georgetown Project, discussed The Georgetown Project's history
and mission. She discussed Kid City, Bridges to Growth Parent Center, the Afterschool Action Program
(ASAP), MLK Service. Day, the NEST, and its history of working with the City of Georgetown and its youth
and youth leaders.
Leslie Janca and Ryan Huffman both pitched to the GYAB possible collaborative events between The
Georgetown Project and GYAB. These collaborative events included Lights on Afterschool on October 22,
MLK Service Day on January 18, and hosting a Youth Summit on February 15.
H. Discussion and possible action to approve GYAB calendar of events for October 2015 through
February 2016
Thomas Janes, Board Chair, asked for a vote to approve the GYAB calendar of events which included the
Lights on Afterschool festival on October 22, the Halloween Carnival on October 29, MLK Service Day on
January 18, and hosting a Youth Summit on February 15. The GYAB voted unanimously in a 7-0 fashion
to approve of the GYAB calendar of events.
L Review and approval of the Youth Advisory Board Bylaws
Thomas Janes, Board Chair, asked for a vote to approve the Youth Advisory Board Bylaws. The GYAB
voted unanimously 7-0 to approve of the new bylaws. The new bylaws were signed by Thomas Janes,
Board Chair, and Jacqueline Massey, Secretary.
J. Discussion and possible action to approve the minutes from the September 2"d, 2015 Youth Advisory
Board meeting
Thomas Janes, Board Chair, asked for a vote to approve the minutes from the September god, 2015 GYAB
meeting. The GYAB voted unanimously 7-0 to approve of the minutes. The minutes were signed by
Thomas Janes, Board Chair, Jacqueline Massey; Secretary, and Ryan Huffman, GYAB Staff Liaison,
Adjournment
Thomas Janes adjourned the meeting at 7:25 p.m.
