HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_MSTAB_01.29.2016V EST. 1848 GEORGETOWN TEXAS MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD MTG. MINUTES 8:30 A.M. - FRIDAY, JANUARY 29, 2016 WILLIAMSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE, 710 S. MAIN ST. 2ND FLOOR NORTH CONFERENCE ROOM, GEORGETOWN, TEXAS Board Members Present: Cindy Harrington, Vicki Jackimiec, JJ Parker, Amanda Parr, David Kellerman, Taylor Kidd and Jim Wilson City Staff Present: Shelly Hargrove, Main Street Manager; Matt Synatschk, Historic Planner; Wayne Reed, Asst. City Manager 1. The meeting was called to order at 9:31 a.m. by Board Chair David Kellerman. 2. Taylor moved to approve the November 13th board meeting minutes, Vicki seconded. All board members approved (7-0). Jim moved to approve the December 15th board meeting minutes, Taylor seconded. All board members approved (7-0). 3. Matt Synatschk mentioned there were no January downtown cases for HARC. An update of the Historic Resource Survey is an upcoming big project and the kick off meeting is 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 4 at the new Planning department's conference room. There will also be an Open House of the Light & Water Works Building on Wednesday, February 3. Justin Bohl's second reading of rezoning and special -use permit (SUP) will take place on February 9 if anyone wants to sign up to speak individually. 4. Progress on Committee Reports: a. Organization: Due to David needing to leave the meeting early, he moved the Organization Committee report up on the agenda. He mentioned several upcoming events going on with our downtown partner organizations and that The Table on Main has tentatively been moved to Sunday, October 2. He reviewed the list of Main Street Facade & Sign Grants over the last two years and mentioned the Main Street Facade Fund has a total balance of around $72,000 which includes revenue from ornament, special events like The Table on Main and Ladies Nite Out. JJ requested a breakdown of the revenue, and mentioned inviting City Councilmember Rachael Jonrowe since there was previous discussion on city board grant programs. b. Economic Restructuring: Jim reviewed the Sheraton Hard Hat Tour and his understanding of the scope of the project more. Five facade and sign grant recipients were awarded at the January Downtown Low Down meeting. Third Monday Main Street Lunch was at La Playa with a decent crowd and Jim, Karen Curry and Jeff Baker attended New Texas Main Street Manager training on the Economic Vitality session and learned a lot. David excused himself from the board meeting so Board Vice Chairman Vicki Jackimiec took over facilitation of the board meeting. DGA/Chamber/SU and Main Street have a survey out about the Holiday Hours campaign and have received positive feedback on being open Sundays. Chet Garner bought the Scentchips building so we'll email him the 81h St. Alley project feasibility support form. College Town Committee met and discussing possibility of an Earth Day partnership. SU Homecoming dates are Nov. 4-6. New Assistant City Manager Wayne Reed showed up shortly after and introduced himself and his background. Promotion: Vicki mentioned Cindy had a family emergency so couldn't make it, but mentioned the final Ladies Nite Out budget with a profit of $1373. JJ mentioned her concerns about the book that was put into the Ladies Nite Out bags offending people with this being a city event, not a private event. Progress is being made on Swirl with a $3000 cash sponsorship from RD Commercial Paving. Michael Walton is heading up the VIP food and wine pairings. General admission ticket registration is being moved to the Municipal Court along with VIP parking in the lot behind. d. Design: Amanda reported that there was no meeting in January, but reviewing property owners who have signed feasibility forms and push more out. The Coleys have applied for a Special Events permit to open a new downtown farmer's market planning to open in March. The light walk report will be discussed at the February Design Committee report. Earth Day plans to work with SU students to plant before Red Poppy Festival and map storm water runoff inlets with medallions in the Downtown Overlay District. 5. Staff Report: Shelly reviewed the New Texas Main Street Manager training held in Georgetown and how they are interested in moving it here every year. 6. Vicki reminded board of next board meeting on February 12. Taylor moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:05 a.m., Jim seconded.
