Minutes
1. Call to order:
The meeting was called to order at 6:10 pm
2. Financial report:
Financial Statement provided by Lorie Lankford, Accounting Supervisor City
of Georgetown. (A copy is attached to the minutes). The Village is receiving
more property tax income than originally budgeted.
3. City of Georgetown Representatives M. Rundell, M. Iwers and L. Lankford
in attendance regarding PID budget submission:
For 2009 property taxes, the PID should collect at least $179,695.43, but this
number could rise depending upon the Appraisal Review Board. $1.3 million
is under review, but that is significantly lower than the past year. The
proposed budget is attached. The proposed budget estimates total costs to
be $190,191, leaving a surplus of $22,859.00 since the account will begin
with $33,354.00 at the end of the fiscal year.
Landscaping was discussed. The issue of Bedford Park will be investigated
because it is still unclear who is ultimately responsible for paying for the
maintenance. If it is the city's responsibility, GTV PID may receive repayment
for this. Parts of the park are not a park as designated by the City of
Georgetown since they are drainage ponds. This would fall under Streets and
Drainage. The contract with Sunterra can be renewed for 1 year if the costs
do not increase for the same scope of work. If Sunterra does not agree, new
bids must be submitted.
Regarding responsibility of GTV, it was stated by the City of Georgetown
representatives that the city has paid for some expenses in the past that are
"above and beyond" the city standards. One example of this would be the
street signs in GTV. The city has paid for these in the past. They might likely
pay for repair of alleys, which are also beyond city standards.
The budget and tax rate must be voted on at a special meeting before the
next City Council Meeting.
