The trend that is developing with visitor traffic is that 2016 traffic is significantly lower than 2015
traffic. The exhibitions held the first part of 2015 were very popular. The first exhibitions held during
the spring of 2016 don't seem to be as popular. Botanicals seems to be the most popular exhibition in
2016 so far, but visitor traffic still does not touch the numbers from 2015.
One factor that may have had some significance during the 2015 exhibition schedule was help in
Public Relations efforts. The Art Quilts exhibition had publicity help because of program coordination
with other community groups and events, as well as publicity help from Sew Much More. The Women
Painting Women program had publicity help from the lead artist's Public Relations firm.

The number of volunteers and volunteer hours for May have declined significantly due to Amanda Still's family
commitments and the resignation of several volunteers; therefore the time necessary to recruit, train, and manage
volunteers, as well as fill empty volunteer slots, has not been invested. When the new Volunteer Coordinator, Lindsey
Jones, begins employment with GAW on June 22", Lindsey will be tasked with processing new volunteer applications
and filling empty volunteer slots as necessary.

Notes About May
The Georgetown Art Works Board is going through
major changes. Amanda Still is resigning from the Board,
the Presidency, and the Volunteer Coordinator position
in June, and Mari Ramirez will take her place as
President while Mar's assistant, Maricella Badillo, will fill
in as Treasurer. John Chapman has agreed to join the
Board as an at -large member, and Michael Walton will
join the Board as an at -large member if the monthly
board meetings can be moved. Additionally, our
Education Co-chair, Kalena Powell is resigning. The
point -of -sale system has also been inoperable for a
month and half, so financial reporting cannot be
executed. The next exhibition opening in July will be
Fantasy and Reality, an open call opportunity for artists.

TONGUE IN CHEEK
THE SURREAL ART OF HO BARON JUNE 3 -JULY 10, 2016
ARTIST RECEPTION:
SATURDAY. JUNE 4. 7-9 PM
ARTIST TALK:
SUNDAY, JUNE 5, 2 PM
My imagery has its roots in the ancients, like the Hindu
and the Mayan, nd the work is archetypal in nature.
The forms are primal and naive, and though brut, they
are fluid and sophisticated. My creations exemplify
Karl Jung's theories of the universal creative unconscious,
and they are thus metaphors that emulate the mythologies and commonalities
of our species.
Intuitively modeled in clay in an arduous sculptural process, the sculptures
are surreal creations covered with intricate motifs. The images are odd, timeless
and cosmic. My style is complex, ornate and baroque. It is tactile and visually
intriguing, and the works are intended to present a bold look into the aspects
of humankind, the obvious and the hidden, the haunting and the humorous.
The sculptures are a play on our physical and emotional features, and though
the works are titled, the names are but labels. The forms are otherworldly,
their interpretations are limitless, and they lend themselves to scenario.
