The City of Georgetown Civil Service Commission met on July 25', 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Georgetown
City Hall, 113 E. W" St., Georgetown TX. 78626.
Call to Order at 1:00 p.m.
Regular Session
A. Approval of Minutes from May 9", 2016 Commission Meeting
a. Commissioner Mautner Motion, 2" Commissioner Montgomery, Approved 3-0
B. Discussion and possible action to approve and certify Firefighter eligibility list based on the
exam that occurred on July 22,d
a. Civil Service Director provided a summary of the exam, 89 applied, 26 tested,., 25
passed. Meet and confer documents allow Chief to create hiring practices to meet the
needs of the department outside of Civil Service Statute. This allowed for the creation
of a policy setting preference as reflected in the eligibility list as well as the ability to
remove individuals from the list that do not possess a Paramedic certification if
necessary. Commissioner Michel requested information on turnover. Chief Sullivan
responded that currently there are 4 openings and about 6 departures annually occur.
Commissioner Michel requested clarification on the list. There are 25 eligible
candidates listed but on 19 candidates Currently reflected in other material provided.
Civil Service Director indicated that 6 individuals had not successfully completed the
CPAT and that the eligibility list reflected all candidates that passed the written exam
per statute. Motion to approve by Commissioner Mautner, 2"d by Commissioner
Montgomery, Approved 3 -0
C. Update to Commission on Civil Service Related items
a. Civil Service Director informed the Council that Hoskins -Brown was reinstated with
the Police Department. A police Lt. Exam was going to occur on July 26" and a Sgt
exam would take place 30 -45 days later.
D. Adjourn
a. Motion by Commission Montgomery, 2"d by Commissioner Mautner, Approved 3-0
