HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_CVSVS_09.14.2016Minutes of Meeting for the Civil Service Commission City of Georgetown September 14th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. The City of Georgetown Civil Service Commission met on September 141, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Georgetown Communications and Technology Building 510 w. 9' St, Georgetown TX 78626. In attendance were; Tadd Phillips, HR Director, Elliott Harper, HR Generalist, Wayne Nero, Police Chief, Stephanie Brown, Police Officer, Matt Turowski, Police Officer, Keith Laughlin, Police Officer, Commissioners Hank Michel, Glenn Mautner, and Jim Montgomery Call to Order at 1:00 p.m. Regular Session (This Regular session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551). A. Approval of minutes from August 26'11, 2016 Commission Meeting a. Motion Commissioner Montgomery, 2nd Commissioner Mautner Approved 3-0 B. Discussion process of handling submitted promotional appeals a. Director inflorined Commission that qUeSti0IIS can be sustained with the answer key, overt-Liled, or removed. Director will read the appeal and then allow and OPPOI-tUnity for the individual that filed the appeal to explain the appeal. Commissioner Michel stated that the only consideration would be based on the reading material. Civil Service Director Confirmed. Discussion and possible action related to submitted appeals for the Police Sergeant Promotional Exam that occurred on September 2 nd 2016. a. Director read the First appeal and question. Question 9 9.22 officers appealed this question. Both spoke on behalf of their appeal. Test answer sustained by Commission. Director read question 412, 1 officer spoke on behalf of the appeal. Commission stated that answer was verbatim from text, answer sustained. Director read question 9 18. Officer spoke on behalf of appeal. Commission stated that the answer provided by key was the best answer and sustained the key. Director read appeal for question 922. Commission felt the appeal's al-MMICIlt was valid and agreed to accept multiple answers for the question. Director read question 23 and officer spoke on behalf of appeal. Director read question 434 and officer spoke on behalf of appeal. Commission determined that the answer was clearly the answer (liven by key and sustained the key.
