Preserve, promote and enhance the cultural heritage and unique character of the community. Attract visitors to maximize the financial impact of tourism on the community. The Convention & Visitor Bureau Board will meet on Friday, October 14 at 8:30 a.m. at Convention and Visitors Bureau Office, located at 103 W. 7th Street, Georgetown, Texas. MEMBERS PRESENT: Georgene Richaud, Ray Dorton, Christy Fisher, Tauyna Vessels, Rita Healy, Al Shankkle, Karen Soeffker (arrived at 8:35 a.m.) MEMBERS ABSENT: None STAFF PRESENT: Cari Miller, Marcy Renneberg GUEST: Kevin Stuckly, President, GHS Booster Club Regular Session (This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551.) 1. Welcome/Call to order Chair Richaud called the meeting to order at 8:33 a.m. Legislative Regular Session 2. Discussion and possible action regarding approval of the September 9, 2016 minutes. Motion by Dorton; second by Vessels to approve the September 9, 2016 minutes. Approved 6-0 Soeffker arrived at 8:35 a.m. 3. Discussion and possible action to approve a Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) Reimbursement Grant for the UIL State Soccer Tournament. Stuckly presented the UIL State Soccer Tournament HOT Grant application. The event is scheduled for April 12 & 13, 2017. After discussion, the following motion was made. Motion by Dorton, second by Vessels to approve the HOT Grant request in the amount of $2,500. Approved 7-0 4. Discussion and possible action to approve a Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) Reimbursement Grant for the GHS Men's and Women's Annual Governor's Cup Soccer Tournament. Stuckly presented the HOT Grant application for the GHS Men's and Women's Annual Governor's Cup Soccer Tournament. The event is scheduled for three weekends in January, 2017. After discussion, the following motion was made. Motion by Healy, second by Fisher to approve the HOT Grant request in the amount of $2,250. Approved 7-0 5. Discussion and possible action to approve a Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) Reimbursement Grant for the Jack Frost Basketball Tournament. The Board reviewed the Jack Frost Basketball Tournament HOT Grant application. The tournament will be held on December 1-3, 2016. A representative from the tournament was unable to attend to present the item. After discussion, the following motion was made. Motion by Fisher, second by Vessels to approve the HOT Grant request in the amount $2,000. Approved 7-0 6. Presentation on the 2016-17 CVB Advertising Plan. Renneberg presented the 2016-2017 Leisure Tourism Advertising Plan (attached). A discussion of the elements of the Plan followed. Miller stated the Groups/Meetings portion of the CVB Advertising Plan would be presented at the November meeting. No action required. 7. Discussion and possible action regarding advertising and media exposure and dates of upcoming events. Miller provided information on numerous topics including HOT usage, advertising/media status, and various upcoming events. The CVB September Monthly Review is attached. The December CVB Board meeting will be cancelled. No action required.
