RRSOLUTION
I, Carl J. Doering, Mayor of the City of Georgetown, Texas do hereby
certify the following to be a true and correct copy of a resolution formally
adopted by the members of the City Council of Georgetown, Texas, at a meeting
of said Council held on the 8th day of May, 1984:
"WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas having been
advised and become aware that the Owners of a certain 260 acre tract of land,
more or less, located and bordering the western Right of Way (R.O.W.) and
frontage road of Interregional Highway Thirty -Five (IH -35) and also bordering
the southern banks of the North San Gabriel River, in and near the City of
Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas, known locally as the "Old Shell Tract"
intend and desire to construct a road in compliance with road standards set
forth and required by governmental bodies having jurisdiction thereof, extend-
ing and connecting a portion of the western Frontage Road of IH -35 across
and bridging the North San Gabriel River to FM 2338 also known as Williams
Drive and Andice Road, and that all cost of construction of said road and
bridge would be borne by said Owners and shared by the Texas Highway Depart-
ment, and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion and conclusion of City Council of the City of
Georgetown, Texas that such road, bridge and frontage road extension would
serve and provide benefits to the general public by providing additional
safe public access to other public roads, streets and thoroughfares and part-
icularly to and from the said FM 2338, (Williams Drive or Andice Road) to
and from the IH -35 Frontage road and IH -35. Such access would significantly
benefit and enhance future traffic movement and circulation, future develop-
ment of public streets and roads in and around the City of Georgetown and
offer safe circulation and movement of vehicular traffic and particularly
safer and less congested routes, circulation and movement of area school
buses between FM2338 (Williams Drive or Andice Road) between schools in the
north and northwestern quadrant of the city to those schools in the south
and southeastern quadrant of the city.. Such road would further alleviate
congestion of vehicular traffic at the multiple intersections of FM2338
(Williams Drive or Andice Road) and 0-35 and U.S. 81, thus affording and
providing greater safety to the general public.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Georgetown,
Texas does hereby recommend, support and endorese the construction of said
road, extension of Frontage road, and bridge, and respectfully recommends
that the Texas Highway Department approve such road, extension and bridge
and pursue prompt and immediate action to facilitate the construction
thereof in full cooperation with the present and future Owners of the afore-
said 260 acre tract."
