O 1 a —1—rf) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, ACCEPTING THE PROPOSED 2016 HISTORIC RESOURCE SURVEY AND REPORT. WHEREAS, a Historic Resource Survey documents historic resources through fieldwork and research. And each historic resource is documented with photographs, maps, and a written description on a form. Undertaking a survey to identify historic resources acknowledges that these resources have value to the community and future generations. Historic resources provide character, continuity and a sense of uniqueness to the community; and WHEREAS, Cox I McLain Environmental Consulting, Inc. (CMEC) was retained by the City of Georgetown in December 2015 to conduct a Historic Resources Survey. This work included an update of the 1984 and 2007 surveys, and a new survey of resources constructed in 1974 or earlier. The year 1974 was selected because high-resolution aerial images of Georgetown were available from this year, and allowed CMEC to compare the historic aerial images with current aerial images to determine whether resources are historic -age; and WHEREAS, the 2016 survey was conducted within an area roughly bounded by Interstate 35 to the west, State Highway 130 to the east, the City limits to the south, and Farm - to -Market Road 971 to the north; and WHEREAS, the 2016 survey, documented a total of 1,676 resources. The survey categorizes properties as contributing and noncontributing properties, as outlined in the recently adopted Unified Development Code amendments; and WHEREAS, the 2016 Historic Resource Survey was reviewed by the Historic and Architectural Review Commission and acceptance was recommended on August 24, 2017; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Georgetown hereby accepts the proposed 2016 Historic Resource Survey. RESOLVED this 12 day of September, 2017.
