HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_CVSVS_10.24.2017Minutes of Meeting for the Civil Service Commission City of Georgetown October 24th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. The City of Georgetown Civil Service Commission met on October 24", 2017 at 2:00 PM at Georgetown City Hall Second Floor Conference Room, Georgetown TX. 78626. In attendance were; Tadd Phillips, Elliott Harper, John Sullivan, Commissioners Hank Michel, Gordon Pierce, Luis R. Zamot Call to Order at 2:00 p.m. Regular Session (This Regular session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551). A. Approval of Minutes from August 4t", 2017 Civil Service Commission Meeting a. Motion to approve Commissioner Zamot, Second Commissioner Pierce, Approved 3- 0 B. Discussion and possible action to certify an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic a. El l iott Harper provided a breakdown of the testing process and numbers related to the test. 13 candidates passed the CPAT. 13 viable candidates on eligibility list. Elliott Harper provided information related to the 3 levels of preference. Commissioner Michel had a question related to the total number of candidates. There are 22 candidates on the list but 9 of them have been removed from the process following the CPAT. Commissioner Pierce asked how long the list was valid. Elliott Harper responded 6 month. Motion to Approve Commissioner Pierce, second Commissioner Zamot, Approved 3 — 0 C. Update to Commission by Civil Service Director a. Tadd Phillips informed the Commission that there are some anticipated retirements within the Police Department and that there will be 3 promotional exams in the next few months to fill those vacancies as well as an entry exam for Police. Commissioner Pierce asked how long promotional exam lists are valid. Tadd Phillips responded with 1 year. Commissioner Michel asked why 6 month lists are requested. John Sullivan stated that it allows us to pull from the top of the candidate pool and allows to fill vacancies with qualified candidates. Elliott Harper stated we would meet in January to look at Chair and Co -Chair elections. The application process for the Commission is currently in effect and Elliott stated he would provide Commissioner Zamot with an application form to reapply to the Commission. D. Adjourn a.
