HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_CVB_01.12.2018Minutes of Meeting of the Convention & Visitor Bureau Board City of Georgetown, Texas January 12, 2018 The Convention & Visitor Bureau Board met on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 8:30 am at Convention and Visitors Bureau Office, located at 103 W. 7th Street, Georgetown, Texas. MEMBERS PRESENT: Georgene Richaud, Rita Healy, Karen Soeffker, Stephanie Blanck, Al Shankkle, Christy Fisher, Tauyna Vessels, STAFF PRESENT: Cari Miller, Marie Woodard GUEST: Milton Van Dusen Regular Session (This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551.) 1. Chair Richaud called the meeting to order at 8:36 a.m. Legislative Regular Session 2. Discussion and possible action regarding approval of the November 10, 2017 minutes — Cari Miller Motion by Healy, second by Fisher to approve the November 10, 2017 minutes. Approved 6-0 (Blanck abstained). 3. Jack Frost Invitational Basketball Tournament Hotel Occupancy Tax Grant Follow-up Report Presentation - Cari Miller Van Dusen distributed the follow-up report. Miller will assist the Tournament in developing a survey to be completed by next year's participants. No action was taken. 4. Discussion and possible recommendation regarding the Transportation Grant Program — Marie Woodard Woodard reviewed edits requested at the November meeting. Motion by Blanck, second by Soeffker to approve the edited grant application. Approved 7-0 5. Discussion and possible action regarding Red Poppy Festival Food Vender Fees — Cari Miller Miller presented the proposed 2018 Red Poppy Festival Food Vendor fees. After discussion, the following motion was made. 1/12/18 1 Motion by Healy, second by Soeffker to remove the early bird rate and add a new food court area on 7th Street between Austin and Rock Streets. All food vendor spaces in the new area will be 10x30 and the fee is $1,500. Approved 7-0. 6. 2018 CVB Board Agenda suggestions - Georgene Richaud Richaud opened discussion on 2018 agenda item suggestions. Discussion followed relative to the following topics: • Easier access to the hike and bike trails from downtown • Increased awareness of Georgetown by the city hosting multi -day events such as health and wellness, literary, history, art, food tour, etc. • Increase ads on the Daytripper episodes in other cities - develop an interest for the viewers in those cities to come to Georgetown • Keep shops open longer, especially in Saturdays • Partner with other CVB's to promote each other 7. Discussion and possible action regarding advertising and media exposure and dates of upcoming events - Georgene Richaud Miller provided current status of the CVB's advertising and media activities. The CVB January Monthly Review is attached.
