RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE POLICY OF THE
GEORGETOWN CITY COUNCIL IN REGARD TO
THE OPERATION AND FACILITIES OF THE
GEORGETOWN AIRPORT.
WHEREAS the Georgetown Airport, like the City, is experiencing growth,
and
WHEREAS, a set of policies regarding the City's plans and expectations
for the airport is needed for the guidance of the Airport Board and the
information of citizens;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Georgetown, Texas, that:
1. The purpose of the Georgetown Airport is to provide limited facilities
and services for local residents and businesses, and is not intended to,
be a regional airport.
2. The present airport property defines its maximum size, and no additional
land is to be added.
3. The airport is expected to financially selfsustaining from fees and
grants, with no expenditure of City tax or utility funds for either
operation or facilities.
4. The Airport Manager and Airport Board shall recommend for Council
approval such expansion of income-producing programs or facilities
as may be needed to keep the Airport self-sustaining.
5. The facilities and operations at the Airport shall meet high standards
of safety for the protection of users, staff and residents of the
surrounding community, and shall provide convenient services to its
users.
6. The Airport Board and Manager shall develop and maintain, and the
Council shall approve, a comprehensive land and facility plan covering
both short-term and long-term development; and all additions and
improvements (such as hangars, taxiways, buildings, utilities, roads,
safety features) shall conform to that plan.
