HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 10.08.1985 - LibraryLIBRARY SITE AND PLANS RESOLUTION THAT, WHEREAS, the Georgetown Public Library has become overcrowded without adequate space for growth and expansion; and, WHEREAS, the projected population growth of the service area of the library, and the future needs of the public are such that additional facilities are required; and, WHEREAS, a tract of land located at the intersections of Martin Luther Ring and Eighth Street, and currently being used for the Electric Department is owned by the City of Georgetown and will become available in the near future; and, WHEREAS, the Georgetown Public Library Board has unanimously voted to locate a new library on this city propertyl and, WHEREAS, the Georgetown Public Library Board desires to select an architect for the purpose of preparing an architectural schematic drawing in accordance with a study of the needs of the Georgetown Library= NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN that the city property located at the intersection of Martin Luther King and Eighth Street be dedicated for new library constructions and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Library Board is hereby authorized to solicit bids from various architectural firms for the purpose of preparing an architectural schematic drawing on the city property and in accordance with the study of the needs of the Georgetown Public Library.
