WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown has recognized the need for
mayor transportation improvements in the northeast travel corridor
between Austin and Georgetown to serve existing and projected
travel demand; and
WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown has previously endorsed
the concept of this MoKan Transportation Corridor which would pro-
vide a mayor highway or transit facility to extend from Interstate
35 north of Georgetown, south of U. S. Highway 183 near Austin;
and
WHEREAS, the citites of Austin, Georgetown, Round Rock, and
Pflugerville and Travis and Williamson counties, have previously
endorsed the need for implementation of the Northeast Transpor-
tation Corridor; and '
WHEREAS, the MoKan Corridor Association representing property
owners willing to donate land and funding to support MoKan's im-
plementation, will take the land in developing MoKan; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public Trans-
portation has executed the attached Minute Order which, upon
acceptance by appropriate cities (counties) would designate
MoKan as a new State Highway authorizing further planning on
the project, and authorizing the creation of a transportation
development corporation to be named as the MoKan Corridor Associa-
tion; and
WHEREAS, acceptance of the attached Minute Order can greatly
accelerate the improvement of mobility in our region,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Georgetown
hereby accepts the provisions of the Minute Order and supports the
