WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown finds
that there is an essential need for an expansion of Texas Farm
to Market Road 2338, also known as the Andice-Georgetown Road
or Williams Drive, to allow that highway to handle the traffic
generated by the urbanization of the area from central Georgetown
to the vicinity of Lake Georgetown; and
WHEREAS, the Commissioners Court of Williamson County concurs
in this finding, and has pledged its support for this project;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Georgetown, Texas,
petitions the Texas Department of Highways and Public Transporta-
tion to immediately undertake whatever steps are necessary to
begin the process of expanding FM 2338 to a four or five -lane
highway in two phases, namely (1) from the present Georgetown
City Limits at Booty Road along FM 2338 to its intersection with
the access road to the North San Gabriel Dam (also the projected
D. B. Wood Road); and (2) from that point along FM 2338 to its
intersection with FM 3405 (also known as Northlake Road); and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Georgetown pledges
its support to this project and agrees to acquire right-of-way
along that portion of the proposed route which will lie within
the corporate limits of the City of Georgetown (Williamson County
having pledged to acquire the right-of-way outside those limits).
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this �+ day of July, 1985.
