The City Council met on the above date, Mayor Jay C. Sloan presiding.
the following Councilmen and officials were present: William R.
Eanes, Harry Gold, Hubert Brock, Doyle Lyda, A. F. Davis, City Man-
ager Charles D. Eyeington and Assistant City Manager Claud Eads.
Council to Mayor stated that Council meetings would adjourn at 10:30 and if
Adjourn 10:30 all business was not completed that the Council would reconvene on
the following Monday night.
Also present were: James A. R"hler, City Attorney Joe B. McMaster,
Drew Ballard with K.G.T.N. Radio Station, Mrs. Herbert Raker with
Williamson County Sun Publishing Company, Chamber of Commerce Manager
George Gregg, James A. Draeger, A. P. Prude, Milton Cockrum and Fire
Chief Jesse Lozano.
Minutes of Council meeting held April 8, 1968 were approved as
presented.
Motion by Gold and seconded by Eanes that General Fund bills in
the amount of $3,321.63 and Utility Fund bills in the amount of $18,777.TS
were approved and authorized paid. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
Garbage Truck The following bid were considered:

Draeger Motor Company $4,785.00

Mayor suggested that: Brock, Sullivan and Manager Eyeington check
the specifications on the above bids and report back to the council
at a later date.
Mr. Beaver with Davis Truck and Equipment Company stated that his
Company would have a complete line of parts in San Antonio, Texas.
Livestock Milton Cockrum and A.P. Prude representing the Williamson County
Barns'(Park) Livestock Association requested the Council put new roof on livestock
building in the San Gabriel Park.
Motion by Lyda and seconded by Gold that cost of repairs be as-
certained with possibility of city employees doing the work. Motion
carried by unanimous vote.
Parade Float Chamber of Commerce Manager George Gregg asked the council to
participate in the cost of a float to be used in central Texas parades.
No action was taken.
State Board of Fire Chief Jesse Lozano stated that the time given the City by
Fire Insurance the State Board of Insurance Commissioners for the replacement of our
1922 fire truck had expired. Mayor suggested that City Manager check
his files to ascertain the expiration date and report back to the council.
Mr. Lozano stated that Saturday, May 11th would be state Firemen's
recognition day.
Spring St. Ray Henderson requested the City Council sell or lease west portion
Ray Henderson of Spring Street to him. Mayor suggested that City Manager Eyeington
check into the matter with City Attorney Joe McMaster as to the
dedication of streets to city and dedication to the present property
owners.
5o. Pine Street City Manager reported on South Pine Street R.O.W. and that he had
I.O.W. contacted Jose Richarte on the phone but Jose would do nothing until
his brother Nat had made a decision. The manager attemped a number
of times to phone Nat - each time he was not at home - he would continue
trying. The securing of new street was at a stand still pending dis-
cussion with Vat. Frank Torres has agreed to an extension of time.
