after the passage and publication of this ordinance that the Mayor of
the said City and the Aldermen of the said City shall be elected by the
qualified voters of the said City, at the time and in the manner hereto-
fore provided by law, or that may hereafter be provided by law. That all
of the remaining officers of the said City, shall be appointed by the Mayor
of said City with the confirmation and approval of the City Council.
That this ordinance shall repeal such other ordinances as may be
in direct conflict herewith. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances
that are not in conflict herewith shall be and remain in full force and
effect.
That the fact that it is necessary that the mode by which officers
of this City are selected must be settled, creates an emergency, making
it necessary that the rules requiring that an ordinance be read at three
separate meetings before final passage, be suspended, and the said rules
are here and now suspended, and this ordinance is at once passed.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN ADJUSTING
THE COMPENSATION THAT SHALL HEREAFTER BE PAID TO
THE CITY RECORDER AND TO THE CITY CLERK, IN REFER-
ENCES TO SERVICES PERFORMED BY THEM IN CASES TRIED
IN THE CORPORATION COURT OF THE SAID CITY: AND DE-
CLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIE SAID CITY:
That in all oases hereafter tried in the Corporation Court of this
City, there shall be assessed and collected all court costs that is now
provided by law in such cases and that when such court costs: are assessed
and collected the same shall be paid into the City treasury, as now pro-
vided by law.
That all officers of the Corporation Court of this City shall be
paid for their services as now provided by law, save and except the City
Clerk or City Secretary and the City Recorder, whose compensation shall
hereafter be as follows
