HomeMy WebLinkAbout0093_9191 RESOLUTION Providing standard policy of the City of Georgetown, Texas for laying and for payment of new water and sewer lines within the corporate city limits: where done at the instance and request of a property owner, or of any subdivision maker. Whereas, the City of Georgetown, Texas is now without a standard policy for payment of new water and sewer lines. Therefore, be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Georgetown that the following policies as shown (A) to (B) inclusive be in forces (A) The City of Georgetown will build 100 feet of water or sewer line for each new customer free of charge. The same conditions apply to new subdivisions within the City limits or to single property owners* Any additional water or sewer lines which may be built by the City of Georgetown for such owners shall be paid for by the customers or subdivision owners with the understanding that the City will re-imburse the owner who paid for the water or sewer lines at the rate of the cost of the lines for materials and labor per feet of line multiplied by 100 for each new customer that ties Into the lines until the line is paid for up to and including seven years time. After seven years the City will not make any refunds for lines not paid for. The owners shall pay for fire hydrants in new subdivisions. if the owner so desires he can build the lines himself or contract the work out, but the Pity of Georgetown will reimburse the owner only the amount of the estimate made by the water and a sewer department of the City of Georgetown. (B) An estimate shall be made by the water and sewer department of the City of Georgetown of the cost of the new lines and the owners shall deposit with the City finance officer the amount of the estimate before work is started if the owner wants the city to build the lines. When completed the City of Georgetown will refund to the owner or collect from the owner the balance due between the amount of the estimate and the actual cost. The labor cost shall include workmen's compensation, social security and ten percent for general overhead. The money paid by the owner for the lines shall not draw interest. (C) The Georgetown Water and sewer department shall determine the length, $ise and location of water and sewer lines. (D)` 'All water and sewer lines shall be the property of the City. t' (E) Where water and sewer lines are not in dedicated streets the owner shall furnish easements over private property. (F) All buildings commercial or residential must be connected to the city sewer lines if available. If not available approved septic tank must be installed. No open pit toilets will be permitted. (G) No refund will be made unless and until the owner and/or developer files a written application for such refund showing the facts entitling him to the same.
