WHEREAS; in May 1955 the representatives of the volunteer Fire
Departments in each of the towns of Williamson County in which there was
a Fire Department, petitioned the Commissioners Court to consider the pro-
position of assisting the various Fire Departments in protecting the rural
areas of the County from fire destruction; and
WHEREAS, the Commissioners Court at the suggestion of the committee
appointed by the various Fire Departments, adopted the divisions of the
County into eight sections to be assigned to the various County Fire De-
partments, and placed in the County Budget $6500.00 to be divided on an
acreage basis as set out below.

This agreement between Williamson County and the City of
Georgetown entered into on this 19th. day of January
1956, w ere n the ounty agrees to set aside and pay over to the said -City
of Georgetown the amount shown above for the year 1956, to be used for
the purpose of improving and/or replacing and supporting the said Fire De-
partment in order that said Department will be in a better position to assist
rural areas in combating fires.
It is understood and agreed that the County is not trying to direct the
expenditure of the above appropriation, but said money is derived from tax
revenues and the appropriation is designed to assist the cities and towns which
support the various Fire Department, in defraying the expenses of making fire
protection available to farmers and ranchers in the rural areas of the County.
This agreement is for a record of this expenditure of tax money to be
placed in the records of each sub -division of government, and is being formally
approved by the Commissioners of Mfilliamson County and the dity or town
Georgetown .
