AN ORDINANCE REGULATING TT'E USE OF CITY WATER,
T,IAKING ITS USE TTNLkab'TTL FOR IRRIGATION, SPRINKLING,
ti4ATER EXCEPT IAT C''RTAIN ZONES ON CERTAIN PATES,
THEREIN, AND FIXING A PEFALTY FOR ITS VIOLATION,
A','D DECLARING AN' KMGENCY.
W-EREAS, by reason of the long drouth, which as occasioned
an exceptionally large use of water from the City Water System, (here called
City water � +.h.e Nater level in the City Water '�,ells is being rapid).) lowered,
and has reached the danger point; thus necessitating the limiting the use of
City 4s -ter, and esrecially limiting the use of City Water in irrigating,
sprinkling, and watering, grass, flowers, sch.rubs, hedges, and trees.
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY TPE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GEORGETOWN TEXASs
1st. That it shall hereafter be unlnw nil for any person within
the City of Georgetown Texas, to use any City'Mater , in watering, irrigating,
and/or sprinkling, of any grass, flower, or flowers, schrub or schrubs, tree or
trees, hedge or hedges, within this City. That any person, whether for him-
self or as agent of another, who shall violate this ordinance, shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor and shall on conviction be fined in any sinn or not less
than one and not more than one hundred dollars plus cost. That each day that he
main so violate the same shall constitute a separate offence.
2nd. It is here specially provided, as an exception to the above
section, that ny person may, within the specific zone, and on the specific day
applied thereto, lawfully take and use City Water in the watering, irrigating,
or sprinkling, of grass, flowers, plants, schr?ibs, trees and hedges that are
within said tone: `Phat to this end, the said City of Georgetown Texas, is here
divided into zones, and the days upon which City'll,ater may be lawfully used in
each zone, for watering, irrigating, and sprinklin- are here given as follows:
Zone No. 1, is all of that portion of the said City that lies to the east of
Church St. and to the south of 12th, St. and that City'r'aater may lawfully be
used for watering;,irrigating, and sprinkling, on 3"tonday of each week.
Zone No. 2, is all of that portion of the said City that lies to the west of
Church Street and to the south of 12th,St.; and that City Water may lawfully
be used for wateriti-,irrigating, and sprinkling on Tuesday of each week.
Zone No. 3, is all of that portion of said City that lies to the west of
Church St. and to the north of 12th.St.,and to the south of South San Gabriel
River; and that City Water may be lawfully used for watering, irrigating and
sprinkling therein on Vlednesday of each week.
Zone No.42 is all of that portion of the said City that lies to the east of
Church St. and to the north of 12th, Ste and to the south of the San Gabriel
River, and that City 'later may lawfully be used therein watering, irrigating
and sprinkling on Thursday of each week.
Zone N o.5, is all of that portion of the said City that lies to the north of
the South San Gabriel Riven and the San Gabriel River; and City Water may be
lawfully used therein to water, irrigate and sprinkle on Friday of each week.
That the provisions of this, the 2nd, section of this
ordinance are an exception to the provisions of 1st. Section hereof, and are
to be so construed; and that it shall be unlawful to use City Fater, for
watering, irrigating, or sprinkling, in any zone at a time other than on -the
date ap711cable to such zone. That one charge with the violation of this
ordinance who would justify himself under this exception shall have the burden
of doing so.
That by reason for facts set out herein, an emergency
exists making it necessary that the rules requiring the reading of an ordinance
at three separate ineetinEs be suspended, and the same are here suspended and
this ordinance here and now passed, and it is ordered that it take effect
immediately upon the publication hereof.
