No person, firm or corporation or agent thereof shall hereafter conceal or cause to be concealed any electric wiring or apparatus mentioned in this. ordinance except with the express permission of the Electrical Inspector and he is hereby authorized and directed to remove any flooring, lathing or plaster, sheet metal or other material which may conceal any electric wiring or apparatus contrary to the provisions of this ordinance. Ori completion of the inspection of any electric wiring or apparatus designed to be concealed and found to be in full compliance with the provisions of this ordi. nanee, it shall be the duty -of the Electrical Inspector to post a notice to that ef- fect at the main cutout center, and said notice shall be considered' -as an express permission to conceal said electric wiring and apparatus, but no concealment shall tale place until such-notice-has'boon,posted by the Electrical Inspector. SECTION 19. The Chief of the fire Department or the Electric9l Inspector, or a competent person delegated by them or either of them, shall have the power to at once cause the removal of all wires, or the turning off of all electric current where the circuits interfere with the work of the Fire -Department during the progress of a fire. The Electrical Inspector is hereby authorized and empowered to cause the turn- ing off of electric current from all conductors or apparatus which are deemed by him to be in unsafe condition or which have not been installed in conformity with the provisions of this-ordinanoe-and-from which the Electrical Inspector hes caused the electric current to be turned off. SECTION 20. No alteration or change shall be made in'the electric wiring or apparatus for use in connection with the production or transmission of electric light ,heat or power, nor shall any such electric wiring or apparatus be installed without first securing from the city secretary ( Electrical Inspector) a permit there- for, nor -shall any ehanCe be made in any wiring or apparatus after inspection with- out notifying the Electrical Inspector and securing a permit therefor. SECTION 21. Before issuing a permit for the installation of any wiring or ap- paratus or the alteration or ohange of any wi-ring-or-apparatus as provided in Sec- tion 20. an application shall be riled with the city secretary ( Electrical Inspector) describing such installation or the alteration or changes to be made, including the apparatus and material used. No deviation shall be made in the details for wiring or apparatus as sho::n on application without permission from the Electrical Inspector in writing. SECT -ION 22. Upon the co-pletion of the installation -of -electric wires and ap- paratus for use in zonneation with electric light, heat or power, it shall be the duty of the person, firm or corporation doing the same to notify the Elec'xical In- spector or competent assistant deputized by him who shall at once inspect the same, and if approved by him, he shall issue a certificate of satisfactory inspection which shall contain the date of inspection and outline of the results of such ex- amination, but no certificate shall be issued unless all apparatus, wires, etg., connected therewith are in strict conformity with the rules and regulations herein set forth; nor shall current be turned on any wiring or apparatus until a certifi- cate of satisfactory inspection is issued. All electrical construction, all material and all apparatus used in connection with electric work, and the operation of all electrical apparatus, shall be in conformity with the rules and regulations set down in what is known as the "National Electrical Code" promulgated by the National Board of Fire Underwriters, a copy pf which is on file in the office of the city secretary. SECTION 23. Any person, firm or corporation or agent thereof desiring to place any pipe, sheet metal or other material within six inches of any electric wire or wires installed for use in connection with electric light, heat or power shall, before proceeding with the execution of the work, obtain from the Electrical In- sp^ctor a permit therefor, and on completion of said work, said person, firm or cor- poration or agent thereof shall notify said Electrical Inspector who shall inspect the same and cause all wires to be placed in a safe and secure condition. Provided, however, that nothin` in this section shall be construed to refer to wires installed in approved iron conduit or armored cable. SECTION 24. Permit and Inspection Fees. Applications for the permits re- quired by this ordiance must be made in writing by the person, firm or corporation emr)loyed to do the work. Such application shall contain the precise location of the property, the name of the owner and the name of the person, firm or corporation employed to do the work; and shall be made on blanks furnished by the city. -3-
