OF Georgetown 'TEXAS,

AND ACCEPTING ALL OF THE OBLIGATIONS AND BENEFITS
OF SUCH SYaTEA:.
WHEREAS, the Constitution of the State of Texas was arnended
on November 7, 1944, by the addition of Section 51-f, Article 111, which
authorized the Legislature to establish a state-wide retirement and disability
tension system for city employees;
V,'HEREAS, Chapter 75, Acts 50th Legislature (1947) as amended,
established The Texf!s Municipal Retirement System, and authorizes the gov-
erning'.body of each city or town to elect , at its option, to have one or
more of the city departments participate in such system; and
JIHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Georgetown ,
Texas, finds that it will be in the public interest for the city to have its
employees participate in The Texas I7unicipal Retirement System as hereinafter
provided; Mow, therefore,

Section 1. That , on behalf of the City of GeorSetown- ,
Texas, the City Council hereby exercises its option anda e�ets to have the
cite• and all of the employees of the following departments of said city, viz,
ITtility, electric, water & Sewer, Office , Street, ,
Sanitation, Police , and
, participate in The Texas Municipal Retire-
ment System as provided in Chapter 75, Acts of the 50th Legislature, as
amended, (Article 6243h of Vernon's Civil Statutes of Texas): and all of the
beenfits and obligations of such system are hereby accepted as to such em-
ployees.
Section 2. The(Mayor or City Manager ) is hereby•directed to
notify the Board of Trustees of a Texas liunicinal Retirement System that
the City of Georgetown , Texas, has elected to participate and
have ti,e employees of the above departments participate in said System.
Section 3. ?Each person who becomes an employee of any parti-
cipating department on or after the effective date of participation. of such
department shall become a member of The Texas I:unicipal Retirement System as
a condition of his employment. The City of George+:own
Texas, mai* in the future refuse to add new departments or new employe s to
such dystem, but shall never discontinue as to any participants.
Section 4. In accordance with the provisions of the statute,
the deposits to Te made to The Texas ;:iunicipal Retirement System on account
of current service of the employees of the several participating departments
are hereby fixed at t,e rate of five per cent ( 5 ,j ) of the earnings of
such employee of said dep.;.rtments, and in determing tie deposits to be made
on account of such ser -rice the ea.rninrs of any employee of an1r such .lepart-
ment in excess of the sum of Forty Eight I{undred Dollars
(;: 4900.!,0 ) in nny one year shall not be considered.' y
