RELATING TO 11ORBIPNIS CO".'PENSATION I'vSiIPANCE FOR
CITIES, T07�NS, ANT' VILLAGES; PROVIDING THAT THE
CITY OF GEORGETOINN SMALL BE SELF-INStrRING; PROVIDING
FOR NOTICES OF S"CH ACTION TO BE GIVEN; PROVIDING
FOR THS' ADS":INISTRATION THEREOF; AND DECLARING AN
E"'IMPGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY liE CITY COi?PdCIL OF T14E CITY OF GEORGFMO N,
TEXAS.
Section 1. The provisions of Acts 1953, 53rd Legislature of Texas, page BOE,
Chapter 377, are hereby adopted and made applicable to the City of Georgetown
and to all employeed thereof, effective the time and date recited in Section
2 hereof.
Section 2. By authority of said Act, the City of Georgetown hereby elects
to be sem-insuring, and from and after the 1st. day of April, 190 at 12:01
o'clock A. k., all employees of the City are hereby insured by the City in the
manner and to the extent authorized by said Act and the laws referred to therein;
and the City shall pay to any and all employees and to their representatives- and
beneficiaries, the compensation and benefits to which they may become entitled
from and after s id time and date under the terms of said Act and the Workmen's
Compensation laws of Texas made applicable by said Act to cities, towns and
villages adopting tts provisions.
Section 3. The City Manager, on behalf of the City Council, shall give written
notice to all employees of the City that effective at the time and date recited
in Section 2 herrof, the City has provided for workmen's Compensation insurance
for all of its employees and for payment to each employee, his representatives
and beneficiaries, the 1Vorkment's Compensation insurance benefits Provided bylaw.
Section 4. The City .I:anager, on behalf of the City Council , shall notify the
Industrial Accident Board of the State of Texas, of the enactment of this
Ordinance, and of its effective date, stating in said notice the nature of the
work performed by the various employees of the City, the approximate number of
employees employed in each type of work, the estimated amount of payroll for each
type of work, the approximate total number of employees and the approximate total
amount of payroll.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall be administered by the City tanager, or under
his superviaian and direction, and he shall promul6ate such rules and prescribe
such forms as may be necessary for its effecive administration.
Section 6. There is hereby established an account to be known as the City of
Georgetown Workmen's Compensation Account, from which shall be paid all costs,
administrative expenses , charges, benefits, insurance and awards authorized by
the laws adopted and made applicable to the City of Georg -town, by this Ordinance.
The record of said account shall show the appropriations made thereto, all
reeeopts from other sources, and all disbursements authorized hereby.
Section 7. WHEREAS, an emergency is apparent for the immediate preservation of
order, health, safety, and general welfare of the public requires that this
Ordinance go into effect i -mediately, and it is therefore ordained that it shall be
effective from the date of i.ts passage.
