REPEALING AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS, PUNIS_HI`iG FLIRTING IN A PTTRLIC PLACE, PASSED
ON AUGUST 9, 1920, A?ID ISO+'# CARRIED IN THE ORDINANCE
OF THE CITY �S CHAPTER XVIII - NUISANCES - SvCTION 2
AND DECLARING AN Ev:'ERCENCY.
BE IT ORDJIINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF Tr'E CITY Or GFORCETO'viN,
TEXAS:
That the following Ordinance now filed in Chapter XVIII,
^iuisances - Section 2, and designated "PUNISHING FLIRTING IN A P17PLIC
PLACE", which said Ordinance was passed by the City Council of Georgetown,
Texas, on August 9, 1920. The Ordinance here repealed is set out in full,
as follows$
"Section 2. PUNISNI`IG FLTRTI71G IN A PUBLIC PLACE. Any man
who shall hereafger go into and near any public place, within this City,
and shall then and there, by word, motion, wink, sign, or action, invite or
Itttempt to invite, solicit, or encourage any woman to become familiar with
him, wihhout then and there first being invited or encouraged by said woman,
to familiarity, shallibe deemed guilty of flirting , and upon conviction
thereof, shall be fined in any sum, not less than one and not more than one
hundr4d dollars. Any man and any woman, not then and there husband and wife,
or not then and there engaged to each other to be married, or not then and
there related to each other by blood or marriage within the third degree,
who shall go into and hear any public place within the City, and shall then
and there be found kissing, holding hands,or either putting their arm or
arms about or around the body of the other, or in any manner, shall be deemed
guilty of flirting , and each or either, upon conviction therefor, shall be
fined in any sum, not less than one and not more than one hundred dollars.
A public place, within the meaning of this ordinance is any public, public
road, street, alley, public lot or block, public building, or at any place
where people commonly resort for the purpose of business, pleasure, amuse-
ment, or other lawful purpose, or any place at which people are then and
there assembled, A man within the reaning of this section is any male person
over 10 years of age, and a woman within the meaning of this section in any
female person over 14 years of age. (Passed August 9, 1920)"
From and after the passage of this Ordinance, by the City

Council of Georgetown, Texas. the above and foregoing Ordinance PUNISHING
FLIRTING IN A PUBLIC PLACE' shall be null and void.
The fact that a portion of the above Ordinance is vegue and
indefinite and the further fact that the Council is of the opinion that
the citizens of Georg -town, Texns,no longer desire to have such an Ordinance,
upon the Ordinances now in force in the City, creates an emergency, re-
quiring that this Ordinance be at once passed, it is ordered that the rules
requiring Ordinances to be reed at their separate meetings before final
passage be suspended; and that said rules here and now are suspended, and
this Ordinance repealing the above described Ordinance shall be passed, arid
it is ordered that it take effect and that said Ordinance be repealedt from
and after the passage of this repealing Ordinance.
