AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING FOR THE HEALTH EXALINATION AND REGISTRATION
OF FOOD HANDLERS IN THE CITY OF GEORGETOT+N , TEXAS, DEFINING
CERTAIN PHRASES AND WORDS IN THIS ORDINANCE, PRESCRIBING PENALTIES
FOR VICLATIONS OF PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE, REPEALING ORDINANCES
OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING A SAVING
CLAUSE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUPICIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN I
ARTICLE I
DEFINITIONS
SECTION I. To safeguard and promote public health in the City of G�eorCetown ,
Texas, the following definitions shall apply in the interpretation and on-
forcemnt of this ordinance.
Xa) The term"food handler" shall mean any person employed or working
in a food establishment who handles food and/or drink during preparation or
serving, or who comes in contact with any eating, drinking, or cooking utensils,
or who works in a room or rooms in which food or drink is prepared, served or
stored.
(b) The term "food establishment" shall mean any hotel, restaurant,
cafe, tever, grocery store, bakery, fruit stand, bottling plant, or any other
place where food or drink is handled. stored, packed, served, or sold in the
City of Georgetown. Texas,

SECTION I. FOOD HANDLERS TO COMPLY WITH STATE LAWS AYD CITY

It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person, firm, corporation, or
association, managing or conducting any food establishment where food or
drink or containers bf any kind is manufactured, transferred, prepared, stored,
packed, served, sold or otherwise handled, to work or employ any food handler
until such food handler has fully complied with all state laws and regulations
and all City ordinances now or hereafter enacted and with all the provisions of
this ordinance, until such food handler has received a food handler's registration
certificate from the Williamson County Health Department which is valid at the
time of such employment.
SECTION II. ISSUANCE OF REGISTRATION CERTIFICATESs
The Williamson County Health Department shall issue food handlers' re-
gistration certificates to food handlers who satisfactorily pass the test and
health examinations hereinafter described, which certificates shall be valid
for the length of time hereinafter specified and shall be required to be renewed
as hereinafter stated.
SECTION III. HEALTH FJMINATIONs
No food handler's registration certificate for use in the City of
Georgetown , Texas, shall be issued by the Williamson County Health Department
to any person required by law or by this ordinance to have or exhibit such
certificate, certifying the holder to be free from contagious, infectious or
communicable diseases, until the applicant for such certificate shall have been
first tested and examined under the recognized standard test for syphilis, which
must be given by the Williamson County Health Department or the Texas State
Health Department , or by a physician licensed to practice in Williamson, County,
Texas, and if the specimen is then found to have no positive reaction, the
applicant must then secure a certificate from a licensed practicing physician
indicating that the glh;asical amination shows the applicant to be free of all
contagious, infectious, or communicRble diseases, which certificate must then be
presented to the Williamson County Health Department.
