PLANNING CO'"MISSION ORDINANCE
An ordinance creatin; a Planning Commission for the City of Georgetown,
Texas, and prescribing their powers and duties.
Be it ordained by the Oity Council of the City of Georgetown, Texass
Section 1. That there is hereby created and established for the City
of Georgetown, Texas, a Planning Commission, which shall be composed of
seven(7) members. The members shall be redident citizens, taxpayers end
qualified voters of the City, all of whom shall be appointed by the 01ayor,
subject to confirmation by the City Council. Tie terms of each of the members
shall be three years, except that the respective terns of two of the -:embers
first appointed shall be one year, and two of the members first appointed
shall be two years. All vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term in
the same manner as provided for in the original appointments. Members of the
Connission may be removed by the Wavor, with the consent of the City Ccuncil ,
for a -;use stated in writing and after public hearing.
Section 2. The Planning Commission shall select a chairman, vice-chairman
and such other officials as it deems necessary, from its r^embership and shall
have the power to employ such gL-lified persons as may be necessary for the
proper conduct and undertakings of the Commission and to pay for their services
and such other necessary expense, provided that the cost of such seritices and
expenses shall not exceed the amount appropriated bl, the City Council for the
use of the Co-nission, It shall also have the power to make rules, regulations,
and by-laws for its own 4overnment, which shall conform as nearly as possible
with those governing the City Council and same shall be subject to approval by
the Ctty Council. Such by-laws include, among other items, provisions, for:
(a) regular and special meetings, open to the public: (b) records of its pro-
ceedings, to be open for inspection b;, the public; (c) reporting to the
governing body and the public ifrom. time to time and annually; and (d) for the
holding of public hearings on its recoaar"endations.
Section j. The Planning Commission shall have the power and it shall be its
