It is not known when the first grave was made but some are marked, indicating the date of 1850 and some as late as 1902. Also, local organizations and groups, service organizations::and patriotic groups have shown much interest. The results of the effort has been encouraging. The Phi Delta Theta fraternity at Southwestern have given about NO man hours of work in clearing out the under -brush. The City has hauled many truck loads of brush off of the grounds. Cash donations have come from local citizens and from friends and decendents and from friends and decedents from as far away as California and Virginia and from Amarillo and EI Paso and many other towns in Texas.
