RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS
AND DECLARING RESULTS OF A SPECIAL
ELECTION HELD ON FEBRUARY 5, 1966,
ON TIIE PROPOSITION OF DETERMINING
WHETHER THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GEORGETOWN SHOULD ADOPT A
RESOLUTION MAKING CERTAIN BINDINGS,
DETERMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS UNDER
AND PURSUANT TO THE URBAN RENEWAL
LAW OF TEXAS.
WfIEREAS, heretofore on the 13th day of December, 1965, the City Council of
the City of Georgetown, Texas, adopted an ordinance calling a special election
to be held in said City on the 5th day of February, 1966, to determine whether
the City Council of the City of Georgetown should adopt a resolution substan-
tially as follows:
"RESOLUTION MAKING CERTAIN FINDINGS,
DETERWINAT IONS, AND ELECTIONS UNDER
AND PURSUANT TO TIIE URBAN RF.NEIVAL LAW
OF TEXAS
"BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETO%N, TEXAS,
as follows:
"Section 1. It is hereby found and determined that
one or more slum or blighted areas exists in the
City of Georgetown, Texas.
"Section 2. It is hereby further found and determined that
the rehabilitation, conservation, or slum clearance and
redevelopment, or a combination thereof, of such slum or
blialited area or areas, is necessary in the interest of public
health, safety, morals or welfare of the residents of said City.
"Section 3. It is hereby further determined that the
City of Georgetown shall exercise the powers granted
to the City by the Urban Renewal Law of the State of
Texas, except the Urban Renewal Project Powers as de-
fined in said Urban Renewal Law.
"Section 4. It is hereby further determined to be necessary and
in the public interest that the City of Georgetown elect, and
accordingly, the City hereby elects to have said Urban Renewal Pro-
jict Powers exercised by the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of
Georgetown, which Agency is created by said Urban Renewal Law.
"Section 5. The findings, dererminations, and elections
herein made are made in accordance with and the various terms used
herein are used in the same sense as used or defined in said
Urban Renewal Law."
AND WHEREAS, all of the City of Georgetown, for the purpose of
said election, voted at the Fire Station in the City of Georgetown, Texas; and
WHEREA9, there were cast in said voting place a total of 283 votes,
resulting in 175 votes for the proposition and 108 votes against the propos-
ition, as is reflected by the election returns heretofore filed with the
City Secretary; and
WHEREAS, only qualified taxpaying voters owning taxable property
in said City and who had duly rendered their property for taxation were
allowed to vote;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS:
1. That said special election was duly called; that notice was given in
accordance with law and in accordance with the Ordinance calling the special
election; that the special election was held in accordance with law; that the
returns of said special election have been made by the proper officers; that
a majority of the qualified voters who own taxable property in said City and
who have duly rendered the same for taxation voting at said special election
