RESOLUTION AND ORDER CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING
RESULTS OF SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS ON NOVEMBER 14, 1967, ON THE QUESTION
OF ADOPTION OF A ONE PERCENT (1%) LOCAL SALES AND USE
TAX WITHIN SAID CITY.
WHEREAS, there was held in the City of Georgetown, Texas, on the
14th day of November, 1967, an election at which there were submitted to
the duly qualified resident electors of said City, for their action
thereupon, the following propositions:
FOR adoption of a one percent 0%) local sales and use tax within
the city.
AGAINST adoption of a one percent (1%) local sales and use tax
within the city.
and
WHEREAS, there were cast at said election 268 votes, of which
number there were cast:
FOR adoption of a one percent (1%) local sales and use
tax within the city. 167 votes
AGAINST adoption of a one percent (1%) local sales
and use tax within the city. 101 votes
Majority FOR adoption of aone percent (14) local
sales and use tax within the city. 66 votes
as shown in the official election returns heretofore lawfully submitted
to the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, and filed with the
City Secretary of said City; and
WHFJLEAS, Only duly qualified resident electors of said City voted
at said election, and said election was called and held in strict conform-
ity with the laws of the State of Texas: now therefore
BE IT R!•,SOLVED AND ORDE1iED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the election described in the preamble to this
resolution and order was duly called and notice thereof given in accor-
dance with law; that said election was held in the manner required by
law; that only duly qualified resident electors of the City of Georgetown,
Texas voted at said election; that due returns of said election have
been made by the proper officers; that said election resulted favorably
to the proposition: FOR ADOPTION OF A ONE PERCENT (1%) LOCAL SALES AND
USE TAX WITHIN THE CITY: and that a majority of the qualified voters of
said City of Georgetown, Texas, voting at said election, have voted in
favor of approving and adopting a One Percent (1%) Local Sales and Use
Tax within said City.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas,
hereby officially and affirmatively declares that said One Percent 0%)
Local Sales and Use Tax within said City has been properly and lawfully
adopted in accordance with the provisions of Article 1066c, Vernon's
Texas Civil Statutes (Acts 1967, 60th Legislature, Regular Session,
Chapter 36, Page 62).
Section 3. That the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed
to transmit to the Comptroller of Public Accounts of the State of Texas,
in Austin, Texas, by United States Registered Mail, or by United States
