HomeMy WebLinkAbout0184_177177 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, ZONING FOR TRAFFIC AND RATE OF SPEED THEREIN, ON STATE HIGHWAY 29 IN TIIE CITY LIMITS OF TIIE CITY OF GEORGETOWN: DEFINING SPEEDING AND FIXING A PENALTY THEREFORE: DECLARING WHAT MAY BE A SUFFICIENT COMPLAINT IN PROSE- CUTIONS HEREUNDER: WITH A SAVING CLAUSE REPEALING CONFLICTING LAWS AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN. Section I It is hereby determined upon the basis of an Engineering and Traffic investigation that the prima facie maximum speed limit on those protions of 12th Street over t. which State Highway 29 is routed in the City Limits of Georgetown, is as hereinafter stated, which prima facie limit shall be effective at all times and signs will be erected giving notice of the prima facie speed limit so declared to -wit. Speed Zone State Highway 29 For East Bond Traffic Beginning at the City Limits of Georgetown, the same being engineer's centerline �j station 54+00.6 to the City Limits of Georgetown, the same being engineer's center- line station 43+23.6, a distance of 0.204 mile, a maximum pirma facie speed limit O of 50 miles per hour. C,5 UFrom the west city limits of Georgetown, the same being engineer's centerline station 26+40.6 backward - 0+00 forward to Engineer's centerline station 1+15, a distance of 0.022 mile a maximum perma facie speed limit of 50 miles perhour. From Engineer's centerline station 1+15 to Engineer's centerline station 70+45, a distance of 1.313 miles, a maximum prima facie speed limit pf 35 miles per hour. From Engineer's centerline station 70+45 to the East City Limits of Georgetown, the same being engineer's centerline station 71+63.3 backward - 2+30 forward, a distance of 0.022 mile, a maximum perma facie speed limit of 50 miles per hour. For West Bound Traffie Beginning at the East City Limits of Georgetown, the same being engineer's center- line station 71+63.3 backward - 2+30 forward, to Engineer's centerline station 70+45, a distance of 0.022 mile, a maximum prima facie speed limit of 50 miles per hour. From Engineer's centerline Station 70+45 to Engineer's centerline station 1+15, a distance of 1.313 miles, a maximum prima facie speed limit of 35 miles per hour. From Engineer's centerline Station 1+15 to west city limits of Georgetown, the same being engineer's centerline station 26+40.6 backward - 0+00 forward, a distance of 0.022 mile a maximum prima facie speed limit of 50 miles per hour. From the City Limits of Georgetown, the same being engineer's centerline station 43+23.6 to the City Limits of Georgetown, the same being engineer's centerline station 54+00.6, a distance of 0.204 mile, a maximum perma facie speed limit of 50 miles per hour. Section II That all of the streets of this City, and all portions of any such streets, are hereby declared to be public streets and that the driving or operating of any motor vehicle on or along any portion of any street of this City at a rate of speed that is greater than the maximum rate of speed for said portion of said street, as fixed by this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, which is named, "The Offense of Speeding," and that the said offense is punishable by fine in any sum not to exceed Two Hundred dollars (8200.00). That the use of the word "Speeding" shall be sufficient to designate the said offense, and shall mean that a motor vehicle has been driven upon a public street, at a greater rate of speed athan that fixed by City Ordinance for the street and for the zone therof, that such motor vehicle was so being driven upon, if zones. That in prosecutions under this ordinance, for the offense of speeding, the complaint, if in other respects sufficient in form, shall as to the portion thereof seeking to achnowledge the offense, be sufficient if it is subatance alleges that the defendant did while driving a motor vehicle in said City commit the offense of "Speeding."
