HomeMy WebLinkAbout0227_222222 '_�yr 011D INANCE AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING A PORTION OF WEST 8TII STREET LYING BETWEEN WEST STREET AND TIMBER STREET IN THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AS HEREIN SET FORTH. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS: WHEREAS, a petition has been made to the City Council by the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Georgetown, Texas and Martha Tanksley the owners of certain property in Block No. 44 of the City of Georgetown, Texas and, WHEREAS, said petition states that the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Georgetown, Texas has acquired sufficient property in said Block No. 44 of the City of Geagetown, adjoining and North of 8th Street to sell lots out of the area which has, been acquired; that the Urban Renewal Plan as heretofore adopted by the Urban Renewal Agency for the South San Gabriel Project Area provides that 8th Street will be a street 50 feet in width; that it will be necessary to vacate 15 feet off of the North side of 8th Street lying between West Street and Timber Street, to reduce the width of said street to 50 feet and to conform said street to said Urban Renewal Plan. AND WHEREAS, it appears that the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Georgetown, Texas and Mrs. Martha Tanksley are the owners of all of the property adjacent to the North side of 8th Street in said Block No. 44 and that said parties are petit- ioners herein; that the Urban Renewal Plan for this portion of the City of Georgetown, Texas does provide and call for West 8th Street to be 50 feet in width and that it is necessary to vacate and abandon the North 15 feet of said street for said purpose. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Uity Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas that the North fifteen (15) feet of West 8th Street lying between West Street and Timber Street be and the same is hereby vacated, closed and abandoned. Read, passed and adopted by unanimous vete, this 22nd day of February, 1971. ATTEST: CITY SECRETARY APPROVED BEFORE ADOPTION. CITY ATTORNEY JAY C. SLOAN, MAYOR, CITY OF GEORGETOWN BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS: 1. That the owners, J. T. Parker, Jr. and wife, Annie E. Parker; Ralph Parker and wife, Pegee Parker; Vivian Dunman and husband, Cecil Dunman; Peggy Parker, wife of Harold S. Parker; and Harold S. Parker, as Attorney in fact for each and every of the aforesaid parties, acting by and through the said Harold S. Parker, as Attorney in Fact and as Harold S. Parker, Individually, and Marlo T. Dedear of that certain tract of land designated as Crestview Addition, Unit IV, to the City of Georgetown, Tezas, are hereby authorized to file for record in the office of the County Clerk of Williamson County, Texas, the Map or Plat of said tract attached hereto, and the said County Glerk of Williamson County, Texas, is hereby authorized to accept for filing and to record said Map of said Tract of land. 2. In authorizing the filing and recording of said Map of said tract of land, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, does not assume any obligation to grade, improve or maintain the streets shown thereon.
