HomeMy WebLinkAbout0382_377377 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PUBLISH NOTICE TO BIDDERS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS TO THE EXISTING COMMUNITY BUILDING LOCATED IN THE SAN GABRIEL PARK IN THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, BEING THE SAN GABRIEL NEIGHBOR- HOOD FACILITY FOR THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AND NOTICE AND INTENTION TO ISSUE WARRANTS IN PAYMENT OF ALL OR A PART OF THE CONTRACT PRICE. WHEREAS, the City Council deems it advisable and necessary and to the best interest of the City of Georgetown to remodel, restore, replace, repair, refurbish and otherwise improve the presently existing municipal building located in the San Gabriel Park in the City of Georgetown, Texas; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it advisable and necessary to issue interest bearing time warrants of said City to evidence the indebtedness of the City of Georgetown to be incurred in such remodeling, restoration, replacing, repairing, and refurbishing, and to evidence any and all other expenses necessary and incidental thereto; and +' WHEREAS, the City Council deems it advisable and to the best interests of said City to now give notice to bidders for the construction of such improvements and notice of intention 07 of said City to pay all or part of the contract price by the issuance and delivery of interest bearing time warrants: BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Georgetown: V That the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized, Ordered and instructed to cause U the following NOTICE TO BIDDERS AND NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ISSUE TIME WARRANTS to be given and published in some newspaper of general circulation published in the City of Georgetown, once each week, for two consecutive weeks prior to the time set for receiving bids and passing the ordinance authorizing the issuance of the warrants, the date of the first publication to be least fourteen (14) full days prior to the date set for receiving bids and passing the ordinance authorizing the issuance of said warrants: NOTICE TO BIDDERS AND NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ISSUE TIME WARRANTS Sealed proposals addressed to the City of Georgetown for the work at the San Gabriel Neighbor- hood Facility for the City of Georgetown, Texas, will be received in the City Managers office in the City Hall and Corporation Court Room at 103 West 7th Street, Georgetown, Texas, until 3:00 P. M. o'clock, Central Daylight Savings Time on Thursday, May 16, 1974, at which time and place the proposals will be opened and publicly read a)oud., \Any bid received after the above stipulated time will be returned to the bidaer"unopened. A Certified or Cashier's Check, or a Bidder's Bond executed by a corporate surety authorized to do business in the State of Texas, in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid, payable without recourse to the City of Georgetown, Texas must accompany proposals. Complete copies of the Plans and Specifications may be examined at the City Managers office in the City Hall at 103 West 7th Street, Georgetown, Texas, or obtained at the office of Roger L. Erickson, Engineer and Architect, 410 Josephine Street, Austin, Texas upon a deposit of Thirty Five and No/100 Dollars ($35.00). None of this deposit will be refunded. The City of Georgetowry Texas reserves the right to accept or reject all or any part of any proposal, to waive technicalities, to make any investigation deemed necessary of a bidder's ability to perform the work covered by Plans and Specifications, and to accept what in the judgment of the City Council is the Best Bid. The Bidder's attention is directed to the fact that bids or proposals shall be submitted only on forms provided therefor in the book of specifications. Bids submitted in any other form will be considered irregular and returned to the bidder as unacceptable. Attention is called to the fact that not less than the minimum wage rate prevailing in the local- ity in which the work is performed for work of a similar character, and not less than the general prevailing rate of per diem wages for legal holidays and overtime work shall be paid to all
