HomeMy WebLinkAbout0398_393393 RESOLUTION AND ORDER FOR ELECTION STATE OF TEXAS CITY OF GEORGETOWN WHEREAS, each and all of the members of the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, was duly and sufficiently notified, officially and personally, in advance, of the time, place and purpose of this meeting; and WHEREAS, proper notice of this meeting has been duly and timely posted as provided by law; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it advisable to call the election hereinafter ordered; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS: That an election is hereby ordered to be held in the City of Georgetown on the 1st day of June, 1974, which date is not less than fifteen (15) nor more than thirty (30) days from the date of the adoption of this resolution and order. The entire City shall constitute one election precinct. Said election shall be held at the following place and the following named qualified persons are hereby appointed officers of said election. VOTING PLACE ELECTION OFFICERS Georgetown Fire Station L. R. McLaughlin - PRESIDING JUDGE W. E. Edmiston - ALTERNATE PRESIDING JUDGE The Presiding Judge shall appoint three clerks to assist in holding said election. Absentee voting shall be conducted at the Office of the City Secretary, in the City Hall in the City of Georgetown, for the period of time as permitted by law. The hours designated for absentee voting shall be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on each day except Saturdays, Sundays, and official State holidays,, - That at said election the following propositions shall be submitted in accordance with law: PROPOSITION NO. 1 SHALL the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas be authorized to issue the bonds of said City in the amount of $250,000 maturing serially over a period of years not to exceed 30 years from their date, bearing interest at such rate or rates as shall be determined within the discretion of said City Council, for the purpose of constructing extensions and improvements to the City's electric light system; to be issued in accordance with and secured in the manner provided by Article 1111, et seq., VA.T.C.S., as amended, each bond to be conditioned that the holder thereof shall never have the right to demand payment of said obligation out of funds raised or to be raised by taxation, and secured by a lien on and plegde of the net revenues from the operation of the City's combined waterworks, sewer On this the 13th day of May, 1974, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, convened in regular session at the regular designated meeting place in the City with the following members present, to wit: JOE E. CRAWFORD, Mayor HARRY GOLD HUBERT BROCK J. D. WININGER Councilmen WILLIAM EANES W. L. WALDEN, City Secretary and the following members absent: Dee W. Scott. A quorum being present and after the following resolution and order for election was read, Councilman Gold moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Brock. The motion, carrying with it the adoption of this resolution and order for election, prevailed by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Gold, Brock, Wininger, Eanes NOES: None.
