THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR OF GEORGETOWN AND THE
GEORGETOWN CITY COUNCIL, THAT THE PROGRAM OF PROJECTS PROPOSED
BY THE BICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, IS HEREBY
ENDORSED.

ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING A PORTION OF AUSTIN
AVENUE LYING NORTH OF SPRING STREET A ND EAST OF INTERREGIONAL
HIGHWAY 35.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS:
WHEREAS, a petition has been received from Bobby G. Stantonj the owner of adjoining
land in Blocks 19 and 20 of the City of Georgetown, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the petition states that the portion of Austin Avenue lying north of Spring
Street and east of Interregional Highway 35 between Blocks 19 and 20 of the City of George-
town has not been in use by the public for many years and, in fact, indications are that said
block has never been graded or improved or opened to public use; and
•I WHEREAS, petitioner states he owns adjoining properties, being part of Block 19 and
Block,'20 iri the City of Georgetown beirg all the land adjoining the portion of Austin Avenue
which is requested to 6e, vacated and closed, and that petitioner desires to develop Blocks
19 and 20 and that the location of proposed buildings makes it necessary and desirable that the
portion of Austin Avenue be closedand vacated.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Georgetown,
Texas, that the portion of Austin Avenue lying east of Interregional Highway 35 and north of
Spring Street, between Blocks 19 and 20 of the City of Georgetown, Texas, be and the some
is hereby vacated, closed and abandoned, except that the City of Georgetown reserves for
itself or for any public utility company, the right to maintain, repair and replace any water,
sewer or other utility line presently located in, upon or over said block; and
Be it FURTHER RESOLVED, the Mayor of the City of Georgetown is hereby authorized
and directed to execute a quit -claim deed on behalf of the said City conveying the right,
title and interest of said City in and to the said property to Bobby G. Stanton or his nominee.
