AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER III OF THE CITY
CODE OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, BY ADDING
THERETO NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS SECTION 15-A,
15-B, 15-C, 15-D, 15-E, and 15-F
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS:
That Chapter III of the City Code of the City of Georgetown be and the same is hereby
amended by adding thereto new sections to be known as Sections 15-A, 15-B, 15-C, 15-D,
15-E, and 15-F, to read as follows:
SECTION 15 -ABB
SECTION 15-A
(1) No person shall own, keep or harbor any dog within the City limits unless such
dog is licensed as herein provided. Written application for such license shall be made to
the City Secretary, and shall state the name and address of the owner and the name, breed,
color, age, and sex of the dog. The license fee shall be paid at the time of making applic-
ation, a numbered receipt given to the applicant, and the numbered metallic tag shall be
issued to the owner.
(2) The yearly license fee shall be $1.00 for each dog over the age of six months.
(3) No person shall own, keep or harbor a dog over the age of six months within the
city limits unless the dog shall have been vaccinated by a licensed veterinary surgeon with
anti -rabies vaccine within one year preceeding the date on which such dog is owned, kept
or harbored.
SECTION 15-B
(1) Upon complying with the provisions of Section 15-A-1 of this ordinance, there
shall be issued to the owner, a numbered, metallic license tag, stamped with the number and
with the month and year issued.
(2) Upon complying with the provisions of Section 15-8-3 of this ordinance there shall
be issued to the owner a numbered metallic vaccination tag stamped with the number, the
month and the year issued.
SECTION 15-B
(3) The owner shall provide each dog with a choke chain, collar or harness which
shall be worn by the dog at all times. Each owner shall keep the license tag and vaccination
tags securely fasten to the dog's choke chain, collar or harness.
(4) In the event that a metallic tag issued for a dog shall be lost, the owner may
obtain a duplicate tag upon the payment of $ .50.
(5) If there is a charge of ownership of a dog during the licensed year the new owner
may have the current license transferred to his name upon payment of a transfer fee of $ .50.
(6) No person shall use for a dog a license receipt, or license tag, or vaccination
tag issued for another dog.
