SECTION 15-D
(1) For the purpose of discharging the duties imposed by this ordinance and to enforce
its provisions any Peace Officer is empowered to enter upon any premises upon which any dog
is kept or harbored and to demand the exhibition by owner of such dog or the license for such
dog.
SECTION 15-E
(1) Any person violating any provision of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor and punished by a fine not exceeding $200.00; and if such violation be continuing,
each day's violation shall be a separate offense.
SECTION 15-F
(1) To the extent that this ordinance may be in conflict with any prior ordinances adopted
by the City of Georgetown, this ordinance shall control.

SECTION 15-C
(1) No owner of any dog shall permit such dog to run at large within the City limits.
At large shall be intended to mean off the premises of the owner and not under the complete
control of the owner, either by leash, cord, chain, or otherwise, Owner shall be intended
to mean any person owning, keeping, harboring, in charge of, or in control of a dog.
(2) No dog of dangerous, vicious, fierce, or mischievous propensities or tendencies
and no female dog in heat shal I be allowed upon any street, avenue, highway, alley,
sidewalk, parkway, park or other public place within the City, whether such dog is under
the control of the owner or any other person, either by leash, cork, chain or otherwise.
Any such dog so found upon any of the public places shall be taken up and impounded and
shall not be released except with the approval of the Chief of Police, or such person as
may be designated by him, and by complying with all the terms and provisions of Section 8
hereof, provided however, that if any dangerous, vicious, fierce, or mischievous dog so
found cannot be taken up and impounded with reasonable safety for the person attempting
the same, such dog may be slain by any Peace Officer.
(3) If any dog bites or attempts to bite any person while such dog is at large, or not
under the complete control of its owner, then such dog shall be conclusively presumed to be
a dangerous dog and a dog of dangerous propensities and tendencies:
(4) If any dog attackes or attempts to attack any other dog or other animal while such
dog is at large, or not under the conplete control of its owner, then such dog shall be
conclusively presumed to be a vicious dog and a dog having vicious propensities and tendencies.

(5) If any dog at large chases or otherwise attempts to catch a person, then such dog

shall be conclusively presumed to be a fierce dog and to have fierce propensities and tendencies.

(6) If any dog at large, or not under the complete control of its owner, overturns

a securely covered garbage container, or removes any garbage from any such securely covered

container, then such dog shall be conclusively preseumed to be a mischievous dog and a dog
of mischievous prepensities and tendencies.
(7) Any dog found within the City in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter
shall immediately be impounded and kept for a period of seventy-two hours and then disposed
of; provided, however, that the owner of any dog impounded under the terms of this section
shall be allowed to hake such dog from the place where impounded upon the following con-
ditions:
(a) Upon a payment of an impounding fee of the sum of $1.00 for each day or fractional
part thereof which said dog had been impounded.
(b) If said dog is not wearing a collar~,, wi th valid rabies and license tags attached,
then the owner thereof must present a certificate showing that said dog has been
vaccinated within (12) months from that day or have said dog vaccinated prior
to its release from impoundment and must further produce or secure a valid license
tag for such dog.
(c) Provide the dog with a collar or harness to which the license and rabies tags
are attached.
