RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS, CLSOING WHAT IS LOCALLY KNOWN AS RAILROAD STREET FROM THE
NORTH BOUDNARY OF WEST 17TH STREET TO AN EXTENSION OF THE SOUTH
BOUNDARY LINE OF WEST 13TH STREET, TO AUTOMOBILE, BUS, AND THRUCK,
THROUGH TRAFFIC.
WHEREAS, the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Georgetown, acting by and
through the Chariman and Secretary of the Board of Commissioners, Georgetown Railroad
Company acting herein by and through its Vice President, Joe E. Crawford, John Everett
and wife, Donia Mae Clark Everett, Eva Campbell, Lee Evans and wife, Zelma Evans,
A. D. Sedwock and wife, Nellie Sedwick, and Miss Edna Powell, have petitioned the City
Council to close what is locally known as Railroad Street from the North boundary of
West 17th Street to an extension of the South boundary line of West 13th Street, to auto-
mobile, bus, and truck, through traffic; and
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council that such street in tis present condition
constitutes a traffic hazard as well as a health hazard from the standpoint of pollution;and
WHEREAS, the above named organizations and individuals constitute all of the
adjoining property owners in the area involved (with the EXCEPTION of Hutchie Williams
and wife, Timmie Williams, who have declined to join in such petition and who object
there to); a nd
WHEREAS, there is adequate access to all of the property involved by the use of
paved streets, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, that Railroad
Street from the North boundary of West 17th Street to an extension of the South boundary
line of West 13th Street, be closed to automobile, bus and truck through traffic; be it
further
RESOLVED that the City Manager be authorized to take such steps as may be necessary
to implement this Resolution; and be it further
RESOLVED that this action shall not consti Lute an abandonment of any right, title
or interest owned by the City of Georgetown.
ADOPTED this 31st day of October, 1974.
