HomeMy WebLinkAbout0437_432432 RESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED BY the City Council of the City of Georgetown, that Thomas G. Sams, Building Official, is hereby authorized to execute for and in behalf of the City of Georgetown, a public entity established under the laws of the State of Texas, this application and to file it in the appropriate State office for the purpose of obtaining certain Federal financial assis- tance under the Disaster Relief Act (Public Law 606, 91st Congress). Passed and approved this 9th day of December, 1974. CERTIFICATION I, W. L. Date: December 9, 1974 RESOLUTION Re", tary WHEREAS, the nationwide energy crisis has created a new awareness of the needs and requirements of the Lower Colorado River Authority to assure The City of Georgetown will have sufficient electric power to meet the needs of its customers; and WHEREAS, the projected load demand of the Authority is such that it is imperative that the Act under which it operates be amended to remove the restrictive limitation on kilowatt capacity, the location of plant sites, and the ceiling on financing to accommodate the growing needs of its customers; now therefore BE I T RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Georgetown hereby respect- fully requests and urges the Governor of Texas to submit the necessary amendments to the LCRA Act as an emergency measure to the 64th Legislature in order that plans for additional generat- ing capacity required by projected loads can be formulated; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Georgetown hereby urges the General Manager of the Lower Colorado River Authority to pursue the enactment of such proposed legislation as expeditiously as possible to the end that the needs of the people of Central Texas who depend upon the Authority for their electric power and energy may be promptly met to alleviate the possibility of shortages and curtailments; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the City of Georgetown of George- town, Texas is directed to deliver to the Governor of Texas and the General Manager of the Authority certified copies of this resolution.
