ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING A PORTION
OF WEST THIRD STREET AND A PORTION OF WEST STREET IN
THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TEXAS,
DESCRIBED IN EXHIBIT "A" HERETO ATTACHED, AND A PORTION
OF WEST STREET IN SAID CITY, DESCRIBED IN EXHIBIT "B"
HERETO ATTACHED, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS:
WHEREAS, a petition has been presented to the City Council by the Urban Renewal
Agency of the City of Georgetown, and by Ora B. Gray and Agnes Wilson, acting by and
through her duly appointed and acting Guardian, Ethel Marie Harrison, and by S. L. Jeffer-
son and wife, Ella Jean Jefferson, with respect to certain properties situated in the Urban
Renewal Project, South San Gabriel, Tex R-102; and
WHEREAS, said petition states that the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of George-
town, and the other property owners mentioned above, are the sole owners of all of Block 18
and all of Block 5, as well as that portion of Block 6 adjoining on the east the portion of
West Street described in Exhibit "B" hereto attached, all of said blocks being of the Original
Townsite of Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the Urban Renewal Plan for this portion of the City of Georgetown calls
for development of such Block 18 and Block 5 and a portion of Block 6, and certain portions
of streets adjoinirig such blocks, such portions of such streets being described in Exhibits "A"
and "B" hereto attached, to be developed as a whole, and that in order for such develop-
ment to proceed, it is necessary to vacate and abandon such portions of such streets; now
therefore be it
ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS, that the portions of streets described in Exhibits "A" and "B" herto attached, be
and the same are hereby vacated, closed and abandoned.
and, WHEREAS, in order to avoid a thirty days' delay in making the lots out of such
property available for construction of residences thereon, and it being represented to the
City Council of the City of Georgetown by the Chairman and secretary of the Urban Renewal
Agency that there are contractors ready to bid on said lots and to construct homes for
residents of the Urban Renewal Project Area and that at this time said Agency has no other
land available from which to offer such lots, it is declared that there is on emergency for
this Ordinance to be passed on First Reading, and the same is so passed on First Reading,
the Second reading being dispensed with for the reasons set forth herein.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 9th day of June, 1975.
