HomeMy WebLinkAbout0492_487487 ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING A PORTION OF 7TH STREET, DESCRIBED BY METES AND BOUNDS IN EXHIBIT "A" HERETO ATTACHED, AND A PORTION OF 8TH STREET, DESCRIBED BY METES AND BOUNDS IN EXHIBIT "B" HERETO ATTACHED, AND A PORTION OF HODGES STREET, DESCRIBED IN EXHIBIT "C" HERETO ATTACHED, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS: WHEREAS, a petition has been presented to the City Counci I by the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Georgetown, and Ima Mays, with respect to certain properties situated in the Urban Renewal Project,Tex R-102, South San Gabriel; and WHEREAS, said petition states that the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Georgetown and the other property owner mentioned above, are the sole owners of all of Block 33 and Block 45, said Blocks being of the Original Townsite of Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas; and - WHEREAS, the Urban Renewal Plan for this portion of the City of Georgetown calls for development of such Blocks 33 and 45 and a portion of 7th Street, described in Exhibit "A" hereto attached, and a portion of 8th Street, described in Exhibit "B" hereto attached, and Qj a portion of Hodges Street, described in Exhibit "C" hereto attached, as a whole, and that in O order for such development to proceed, it is necessary to vacate and abandon such portions of such streets; now therefore be it V ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, V that the portions of street described in Exhibits "A", "B", and "C" hereto attached, be and the same are hereby vacated, closed and abandoned. AND, WHEREAS, in order to avoid a thirty days delay in making the lots out of such property available for the construction of residences thereon, and it being represented to the City Council of the City of Georgetown by the Chairman and Secretary of the Urban Renewal Agency that there is a need for making such lots available for redevelopment in the Urban Renewal Project Area, it is declared that there is an emergency for this Ordinance to be passed on First Reading, and the same is so passed on First reading, the Second Reading being dispensed with for the reasons set forth herein.
